My shoprider Sovereign was working

Hello there, The problem you experienced is something to do with the gear levers.if the unit comes on good and shows a full charge this indicates that the problem is not power related as the power is sufficient. Although what i would like to know is if the forward lever moves okay?
Although this could be a minor electronic malfunction so what you do to ensure it is the gears before sending it to an expert is first turn it off take out the battery this should reset any failures and then insert the battery back after getting it fully charged. If it still does not work then you need to get the gears checked as your unit has undergone a gear failure.
Hope this solution has been helpful?
Thank you for visting FixYa.

Continuing ? on the unnamed

That switch has contacts that are too small to support the current needed by the motor. You must use positive action relays - ones that make contact when activated. 4 in total - 2 per sense
The wiring is simple: the contacts in the lever are positive action ones; identify them and use them to command the relays - from the battery plus to the contact, from the contact to the plus side of the coil of the relays, from the minus side of the coil to the minus of the battery; for the power side - from the plots of the battery a wire to each relay contact points and from there to the motor: for the forward sense the wires will be direct (- battery to - motor, + to +) for the reverse the wires will be crossed (- battery to + motor, + to -). Just use a very thick gauge wire and relays that are capable of supporting at least 100 amps .

Shoprider sovereign - fully charged

Hi, this sounds as though you are having a problem with the ignition switch. If and when you turn the key off and back on, and it shows a full charge, do you have plenty of power like it is fully charged? If not, your battery's are in need of service, and they will not hold a full charge. The cells with in them will sulfate causing the positive and negitive plates to corrode up, and not hold a charge for very long at all, even though the gauge shows it is fully charged. If you have someone that can buy a simple battery cell checker at any auto store, this will tell you the condition of each cell on each battery. Very inexpensive also. This would be the first thing to check. If the battery cells show in the good to excellent range, you will need to have the ignition switch checked out by a company that works on them. I wish you the best on this, and I hope I have been of some help to you.
Sincerely,

It sounds like it could be locked. Try pressing and holding the power button until it bleeps. then move the joystick to the forward position and hold until it bleeps. Then move the joystick to the reverse position until it bleeps. turn off and then back on.

Check your manual for locking/unlocking. Hope it works

I have a 4 wheeled shoprider sunrunner scooter.

Possible one or both batteries have had there day. How old are the batteries. If they are between 1 and 2 years old they will probably need replacing. it would be adviseable to get the batteries tested and have the charger checked as well. When did it have its last service ?

Needs a check up

Check the brushes in the motors to make sure they are not sticking or the brush caps are not loose. Also check all connections from joystick to controler box to motors. Also check battery connections are not loose. Get it serviced.

My shoprider creeps backwards on its own

Problem is your joystick is broken, I had the exact problem.

The plastic parts inside your tiny joystick is cracked due to abuse, likely someone pushed on it too hard, or banged it against something.. All it takes, is 50N, or 5 kilograms of force, to break it. It is a very delicate multi-axis inductive joystick made by Penny and Giles,

My advice is to replace the Joystick, which costs $200-300
A lot cheaper than replace the whole controller, which could cost $1000 or more.
