Ear wax always gets a really bad press but it's actually there to help the protect the ear. It's produced in the ear canal and then slowly makes its way to the opening. It should come out naturally by itself or with gentle daily washing. When you use ear buds you just push the wax deeper into the ear and ultimately that increases the risk of infection.
I would be seriously concerned about letting my daughter take diet pills. They are not meant for use in youngsters and have some serious side effects including containing stimulants that can be addictive and mess around with a growing body. They can also cause insomnia and high blood pressure.
I would consult with your family physician and ask for advice or maybe a referral to a nutritionist so that together you can find out if your daughter actually needs to lose weight and if so, make a plan for a healthy way to do it.
