Is the unit 100% dead or just part of it and yes you can use the same speakers if wired corrrectly.

I had the same trouble to reset this machine into factory setting and finally, I found out. Let's do this way.- Leave your remote away as you won't need it- Turn off the the unit to STANDBY mode- Press and hold STRAIGHT button on the unit and press Power button while you are holding it. This will turn on the machine.- Once the machine turns on, press PROGRAM to select the items on LCD display until it shows INIT **** CANCEL- Press STRAIGHT button until it turns to INIT **** ALL- Press Power to turn off the machine.- Leave it for 2 sec. then turn on the machine again.Now your unit turns to factory default setting.

I expect there is either a power supply issue or one of the amplifiers has failed causing over current to turn it off as a protection to the power supply.

Yes if it has a suitable speaker connection available and is nominally 8 ohms impedance Speaker and AV.

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.

(francais) hello in my issue the probleme was a little resistor r027 it's in this red zone and very ugly. easy to find. a friend was unsolded the resistor and weld a little wire after wash with isopropanole alcool. the resistor test the tension when we plug usb thing. less the resistor the usb ports don't work. you can buy r027 for 2 euros for 100 pieces.... or 2 euros for 5 10 pieces (funny).

Question edited for clarity, full make model (what it is)'. Question moved to Yamaha Audio. It may be sympathetic vibration and is coming from something nearby. Put it on a folded towel or sit in the floor to test it. https://www.google.com/search?q=YST-FSW050+bad+vibration ..

You must repair the amplifier first. Take it to an authorised Yamaha service centre.
