You DO have to have caller ID service with your phone company for this to work. If you don't, it won't. If you do have it, you need to go into the menu and activate the receiver to use the caller ID. If your problem is something else, you need to elaborate.

I had the same problem with my remote that would not control the tv. I tried the codes that I had and none would work. I called direct tv and they had more codes and one of those worked

This is normally a sign that the receiver is not connected to the internet. Hi, I would be happy to assist you with your issue. DISH receivers are equipped with an "Inactivity Standby" feature which will place the receiver in a standby mode if the remote is not used in specified amount of time. The reciever does allow you to set the amount of time or if you would like, you can diaable the feature. This can be accessed by pressing the Menu button on the DISH remote and then select "Preferences" and then "Updates". Hi, the Hopper does have the ability to do Home Media which allows you to watch videos, listen to music, and view photos by sharing them to your TV. You can use this feature with a tablet or Smartphone which is connected to the same home network as the Hopper. Press the menu on your DISH remote and scroll to "Home Media", and introduction will load, select close and then on the next page will list an compatible devices currently connected to your home network. Select on the one you wish to connect with and you will then have access. To change which hopper your Joey is linked to if you go to the Joey and get the remote. If you press menu, go to settings then to network setup, selected on whole home. Now on the screen you will see the devices listed use the remote to highlight the correct hopper and press select and then save.
