I have listed some steps to try below for either situation!Satellite:If the remote has intermittent use on the satellite, ensure there is nothing that may be causing interference. For a TV1, this could be a fluorescent light, or a direct heat source blocking the IR signal. If it is a TV2, interference may be caused by a device that is powered on. You can try turning off equipment to see if interference is removed, or you can try moving the antenna on the back of the receiver. If it is sticking straight up, turn it parallel with the receiver. If it is laying flat, put it straight up.Television:If the intermittent control is for the TV functions, you may need to program a new code into the remote. Hello Witt Thomas,I can understand the concern and wanting the remote to work the TV Menus. It is possible with our remotes, however it depends on the TV itself. I've seen instances where there are 2 TV's in one house, and 1 will do it, while the other won't.If you have tried all of the remote codes, and none work, the only other options we have available are to try a powr scan, or teach the remote. If the dish network remote control is universal it may work with limited functions. If the remote control has buttons labeled cd, receiver, cable or Aux etc. it might work. The manual will tell you for sure. It will also provide you with the proper code for the component to work.
