Bosch Sensotronic dishwasher will not drain

I think I may have figured out a work around (by accident).  Start a cycle (any cycle), once it starts hold down Scrub Wash and Delicate/Economy at the same time for 3 seconds and the cycle will immediately finish (counting down quickly then to CL) and it will begin to drain.  I had to do this 3 times(draining more each time) but the end result was a completely empty bottom of the Dishwasher. To be honest I think this is the first time the thing has ever been completely empty!  I wish I was joking...

Hi, we have a Bosch

My Bosch DW SHU5302 also got stuck during a cycle and ran and ran. Turns out this is a known problem with these DW's. The problem is that a trace on the main board burns off that controls the heater. If the heater doesn't come on then the DW keeps running waiting for the water to heat up. Re-soldering this trace fixes this problem. If you get a repair guy out, he will only change the board. They are not allowed to re-solder which doesn't fix the problem for long as the same trace will burn off. Did this about 8 years ago and it is still fine.

I Have a Bosch SHU5312/u11 that is showing 2H on

Hi,

To answer your first question, in a word Yes. To address the second question, Yes. The control module is easy to replace but the better news is it is also repairable, ( you can make an educated decision when I'm through on whether to replace or repair, that is obviously up to you ) but I'd like to enlighten you if you'll allow on what to look for, and why.

The issue with your Bosch dishwasher likely lye`s within`the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ). This is why it runs forever unless pressing the two buttons for "cancel". It has nothing to do with a "delay". The 2H stands for two hours and is actually the estimated time the unit took to complete it's previous cycle based on data to the control gathered and stored in memory...it is not "actual" time, it never is on Bosch. there are far too many variables to be "actual" time and since it only goes to two hours in the display, that's what is displayed even if it runs for four hours.

To repair your unit It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. This will be one of the pins from the heater relay, hence the unit sit`s at 2H ( because it can`t heat to advance or until canceled ) trying to heat the water.

**Further to this, if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on there behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power before attempting any service to the dishwasher. If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau, to service your machine.**

Hope this answer`s your question's, let me know if I can assist you further. Thank`s for visiting "fixya" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness to you and leave a testimony if you're satisfied.

Good luck.

Upper spray arm of the dishwasher is not moving

Hello, I just had to repair a similar situation on the same type of bosh. I removed the entire track that the water travels through to get to the spray arm in which I found no blockages at all. I still cleaned the entire path anyway. Next I removed the lower spray arm and examined the port hole that feeds the upper spray arm then removed the torx head screws giving me access to the sump area. When I could see the port holes on the sump I turned the unit on let it run for about ten seconds and then opened the door when you do this there is still residual water still comeing out of the hole if the sump is not clogged. Instead of disecting the pump I instead decided to just replace the sump as a whole came to about 32.00 for the sump. I installed the new sump and alleviated the issue the customer was having where water wasnt going to the upper arm. Afterwards I looked at the old sump trying to figure what could of been blocking the water from flowing. When you remove the sump on the underside in one of the ports there was a rubber piece that one of the hoses plug into that had come loose and enlarged on the inside of the sump itself. After reviewing the old sump I am quite glad I just decided to order a new one even though it took 9 days for me to get the part due to there were none in stock and I had to wait for it to be made. In order to just replace this rubber piece as well as pick it out of the inside of the sump at the time would have been not only a long tedious process but also a real pain in a customers 2.5m home with marble counters and floors. Needless to say the unit is now up and running. And a word to the wise use to 2x4s on each of the sides and remove the side panels as well. click this link http://www.applianceaid.com/pdf/SHE44C06UC22.pdf this is about the best bosch service guide I think that is out there at this time and it has helped me in repairing bosch dishwashers numerous times. If you have any further questions message me back. Thanks I await your reply Rick

We have a 8 y.o

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post and my experience with Bosch, If it does fill with water as you said I have a question to it's behaviour once filling stops. Do you hear a humming begin after it has filled, and if so has the unit recently been idle for a period of time...say a couple of weeks or so ?

If yes, the wash impeller has possibly become stuck and if so there is a simple resolution for Bosch dishwashers, it's a common occurrence.

These are relevant questions and can point directly to the problem if you want to reply I can help you move forward.

Let me know what you find and I'll try to assist you in any manner I can going forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)
