Kohler Toilet Seat - Elongated Front Quiet Close Quick Release - Cachet by Questions & Answers
My slow close toilet seat
WOW! Slow-close toilet seats. What will "they" think of next, to pick your pocket?
Slow-open mechanisms such as cassette players and top-loading DVD players use a special type of grease to achieve that effect.
The screen on the laptops uses a friction mechanism based on a "clutch-spring" with enough holding power to keep the display in the position selected.
This "clutch-spring" is factory adjusted so it neither slips under the weight of the laptop screen, nor is so tight that extra force is required to close the laptop.
These things do wear out, and as a rule are not user serviceable.
Can you adjust it? Good question!
Can you adjust it so it works? Ahah!
My rule of thumb: If it's already broken, how much more broken can it get?
Therefore, my conclusion is that the toilet seat's slow-close mechanism is factory set at the point where it will neither slam down nor stop half-way, but glide down gently until it's closed.
An interesting added feature would be for the toilet to recognise who's about to use it, and for what, select the seat position be it up or down, and then regulate the water volume needed to flush.
Also, it could flush itself once the lid is fully closed, to avoid or minimize the dreaded "toilet flush mist". arrrghhh!!!

Hinge on quiet close stopped
A lot of these slow closing toilet seats don't work well, so I suggest an alternative, Drop-a-Seat cushions. They stick on to the bottom of the toilet seat, allow you to drop any toilet seat, gravity does all the work, and the cushions absorb the impact. They're non-absorbent, stick on for easy installation (permanent yet removable), and are only $4.99. Check them out at

Kohler elongated toilet seat. Seat
Good day!!!!
If the toilet seat did not stays up you need to adjust the seat for at least more than 90 degrees like 95 or 100 degrees with the base while stays up...
if you think that model is don't have enough clearance to to stays up and if wish get another one please try this..
http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/category.jsp?category=14you can select by features like elongated or bowl shape and if it seat style, close or open front or even the color..
Toliet seat lid doesnt drop
Either live with it or replace it. The hinge is not serviceable and the soft close action does not last forever. They rarely last more than five years, maximum.
Quiet close toilet seat no longer closes slow on

Toilet seat cracked need replacement and aprrox.
Hello. A new seat is available at any hardware store. Elongated seats cost anywhere from 20-40. If you need to have it installed it will be significantly more. House calls are generally at least $50.00. Be sure to get a price up front as it only takes 5 minutes to replace a toilet seat.
If you want to do it yourself, unscrew the old one and screw on the new. That's it. Joe
Thanks for choosing Fixya!
The hinge part of the toilet seat installed
Hi,
Please don't take this the wrong way but did you install the hinges the right way?
I fit bathroom suites for a living and have done this a few times wrong by putting the left hinge on the right side and vice verser. Sometimes the instructions are not very clear in explaining which side is left on the seat, as a result even though the toilet seat is closed, the springs are set backwards and are in fact in the up position.
Double check the instructions once more, and just have a look on the hinges and seat because sometimes they have a small 'L' sticker on the hinge and an 'L' sticker on the seat and lid to correspond which hinge goes on which side.
Hope this is of help to you.
