Braun Aromaster KF 400 Coffee Maker Questions & Answers
A small part of my Braun type 4085 coffee maker
The rubber ball is the stopper at the small opening under the funnel. When the pot is removed from the unit, the stopper closes to keep liquid from dripping on the warmer surface below. Try snapping it back into place so that the pin is facing towards the front of the machine. It may need glue.
How do I descale
Run a 50:50 solution of cold water and white vinegar through several times, letting the solution cool before running again. Use a filter to catch the debris that should flush out. Run cold water through several times to wash out the vinegar taste after the above. Hope this helps!
Where can I buy a
Hi, you have to contact Braun customer service on 1-800-272-8611 to get the address of the nearest dealer closest to you where you can get the thermal switch or you can make a direct order from them which i think will be faster......
My coffeemaker wont pump water what gives?
check the plastic tube that runs through the water reservoir. usually when they stop moving water there is a leak or kink in the tube stopping the flow. sometimes they make the tube out of an almost surgical tubing and when the hot water travels through the tube it gets soft and collapses stopping the water. if you have one of the later ones, i suggest taking it back and demending your money back.
Cleaning coffee maker
Decalcify with 1/3 cup white vinegar and 2/3 cups water. Turn on your machine and let it brew the mixture through the entire cycle. When cycle is complete empty the pot and fill the reserve with fresh cold water and cycle once more. This should clean your unit and if it doesn't do as good a job as you want then complete the entire process once more.
Info per my user manual on my different brand coffeemaker.

NO POWER
there are 4 electrical parts
1 switch
2 thermal switch (keeps heater at around boiling temperature)
3 thermal fuse (will break if thermal switch gets stuck on, to prevent fire)
4 heating element (the hotplate and surrounding tube that boils water)
since the switch lights and hot plate is not hot then it is #2,3 or 4 that is not working.
it is most likeley the thermal switch which is not too expensive to replace.
check the thermal switch by disconnecting it from the wires. at room temperature the thermal switch should be closed. test with a meter set on resistance.
if it is not that check the thermal fuse in the same way, it should also be closed.
if those test ok and the heating element is bad (doubtful) then get another machine and save this for parts
Braun Coffee Maker Type 4093
it sounds like the hole at the bottom of the waqter tank is clogged. the fact that it is hot means the electrical parts are all working.
it should be an easy fix
Help
maybe you have blocked the hole with the rubber grommet.
disassemble and reinstall it properly
Doesn't pump water through the sytem ...to coffee
it doesnt use a pump. there is a tube around the hot plate where the water boils. the steam rises and then condenses and falls on the grounds.
check the metal plate under the carafe. if it does not get hot then you have a repair job on your hands.
it is most likely the thermal switch.
if not then it is the thermal fuse
or the heating element
