IT most likely is not 40 volts! It can be 20 or less. Depends on the battery configuration. There can be 2 twenty volt batteries in series and the charger charges them in a split configuration.

I have never tried this so all I can say is try it.

Just a thought, lithium batteries wont charge in Ryobi's old chargers. I upgraded my batteries but not the charger until I found this out.

check charger operation if ok , junk the batteries

One issue with LiOn batteries is that if they get completely dried out they become useless so charger wont charge them. drillselect com

No fixya has no parts for anything go to a tool supply shop or wood working shop

home depot -lowes -most hardware stores--go online to buy the replacement for repair do a search for tool repair store in your area but might be cheaper to do replacement

Make it dry in direct sunlight after well dry then you can try to connect with charger
