Bosch 1617EVS 2 Router Questions & Answers
Collet stuck in shaft.
On some models the collet stays put on purpose. You don't have to remove the nut either. But if you really do have to remove the collet and it is the type that is supposed to come out (maybe you need to use the 1/4 inch collet) then just stick a bit into it without the nut and give the bit a sideways whack with a piece of wood. If the collet has been pressed in tight by the nut without a bit in place, then you won't be able to fit a bit into it, and maybe the collet is ruined. Find the largest diameter shaft you can to fit into the hole and pop that sideways. Good luck.
Won't come on brushes seem
The issue I find most with these routers if they are not working is the main power switch. They usually are the culprit. They are easily changed is you want to tackle this job yourself. One other problem I see is the speed control module, just remove the two screws from the top of the tool and inspect the module with the knob. Look, for any burning or melting (this is rare). Just find a Bosch service center in your area, they will have the parts you require.
How to attach 'plunge lock lever' to Bosch 1617
I have been repairing the Bosch tools for quite a few years and I still hate putting those levers on. Unfortunatly, there are no "tricks", you just have to set the spring in the lever then use a small screw driver to set the other end in its slot. Then try to rotate the whole thing untill the lever goes into the proper notch. It usually takes me 5 or 6 times to get it in, sometimes it goes in first time (rare). Sometimes I'm at it for 1/2 an hour.
Good Luck
