How do I use the attachments?

The rug head must be replaced with the hose assembly. Raise the head to it's highest position with the foot pedal. Turn the belt lifter fully counterclockwise to disengage the belt, and unlatch the head to remove it. The hose then sits on the mounting bar, and can be latched in place.

Belt is on roller. Not sure how and how to

When you put the beater bar back in have the belt hook in the normal operating position. Hold the whole beater bar housing upside down and turn the hook. It will grab the belt. Once it does, keep on turning. It will get tough to do, but turn it until you can't go anymore. Then put it all back together!

The on and off switch does not work properly. it

If there is no burning smell associated with this problem, it is quite possible that the cord is broken near the top where it is attached to the handle. It is quite common for the cord to break there.

It is also possible that it is the switch within the unit as well. Just not making a proper connection. A new switch, altho a little more costly is much harder to change than the cord.

Hi there--My G5 had a burning smell and when I

Hi Judy, Youmust have asked what was the burnt component. If this was the motor then there is no chance of a cheape service but if this was a the surge capacitor then it is just a easy job to replace.
So Whenever there is an inspection please ask for the correct technical fault, the details of repair( if replaced or repaired) warranty on work .
Taking it to several place may finally end up tampering the machine. So the known person can be believed in to prove himself.

My Kirby G5 will not start. Head not aligned?

Check the positioning of the roller (it's got numbers 1 2 3 at each end, make sure it's on the same number at both ends).

Just a thought too - check your power lead at the machine end as due to the age it may have deteriorated and the wire inside may be broken.
