check for power at your brushes, possible worn brushes in the motor

there isn/t a fuse if not turning on probably a bad switch or power cord

This requires removal of the transmission assembly and replacement of the pedal assembly - it cannot be repaired. The handle and upper motor shell must be remove to access the transmission assemby. There are two screws in front, and two under the plastic switch plate.

no!   It will be ruined if you try that. 

Years ago I used to sell and demo kirbys up to the G-5 model,I believe you have to sit in front of your vacume,raise the wheels as high as they can go and on the logo face tun the crank one way,this loosens the belt and give a little tug and the roller sucking chamber will drop.Pull the chamber away.,now take your hose and stick it over the shaft and lock it down with the wing nut and then you can use all your vacume attachments.UNLESS YOUR TALKING - vacume bag hose- this is just a simple twist and click on the vacume exhaust chamber. Now if your hose is unhooked in your vacume bag it self,you will have to get a new bag attachment or get a repair man to look at it.

Hi Andy, Please forgive me, but I have to say this just in case. Make sure you put the powerhead on the machine, BEFORE you turn the handle to line up the green arrows. If the machine is a few years old, it may be because the belt has stretched, and no longer holds enough tension when dissengaged, and falls off inside. If you have the shampooer attachment, try borrowing the belt from that, and put it on the vacuum powerhead to see if it still happens. If it doesn't, then there's your culprit. I hope this helped. If the brushead is removed,there is a safety switch which prevent the machine from operating if the brushead is removed or not installed correctly.Either this switch or the main power switch could be the culprit,as well as the cord.

Can you post a pick of your Vacumme I have an older Kirby and I have the Manual. If its like mine, I have one I can email you a copy of :-)

Remove the vacuum head by tilting the front down slightly and pulling straight back. Attach the wand hose onto this opening by placing the small hooks of the hose on the bar beneath the opening and pushing the hose against the vacuum base. Lock the hose in place by turning the vacuum head lock from left to right so it catches the hose.
