Press the foot pedal to raise the head to the highest setting. Turn the lever on the head to "off" to remove the belt from the motor shaft. Pull head off of vacuum
The green light means the brush is spinning. Your brush roll may be bound with hair or debris and/or your belt may be stretched out and not spinning the brush fast enough. Belts should be replaced at least twice a year.
Check the cords two wires with an OHM meter for continuity replace if you get a reading showing OL The ground wire you can forget about this test
If any sort of numbers appear in the meters display the cord is good
Replace the switch instead
It's supposed to do that. There's a small, very sensitive microphone in the elbow of the dirt passage coming off the back of the machine. As long as it's in contact with a dirty floor, the smallest piece of dirt going up through the hose will turn the light to red. Once all the dirt particles have been passed through, it turns back to green.
I believe you are talking about the pedal that selects powerdrive. That shaft end is stamped on in manufacturing. If you take it apart you'll see where it is to hold the shaft in place. When we see them it normally requires a used transmission. There may be a kit or something available to you to repair this from kirby but you should be fairly handy if you decide to start taking your that part of your machine apart. Good Luck!
