you may have a bad by-pass pressure control valve. The pump may also have bad seals inside. You can replace the pump but it is very expensive. You can buy a rebuild kit and a new by-pass control at a local supplier.Be careful not to let the motor run more than 30 to 60 seconds after you let go of the trigger. The water in the pump will get extremely hot and destroy your pump.

When you get down to it, purchacing oil end parts for a pressure washer is not cost effective.
The crank(cam) shaft runs about 280.00 dollars. The oil seals, new bearings, possibly new pistons and almost definatly new seals would be at least a hundred more. You can get a new pump for about 400 dollars and won't have to do all the work.

A flooded engine will not start even with starter fluid.
You need to get the cylinders dried out and try starter fluid alone by draining the fuel from the carburetor bowl and pinch off the fuel line at the carb inlet. Then remove spark plugs and crank engine for several seconds to dry out the cylinders.
Next, reinstall spark plugs and remove the air filter. Leave fuel line pinched off. Set 3/4 throttle (choke off). Then spray a 1 second burst of starter fluid directly into the carburetor throat. Don't bother with the air filter and promptly start the engine.

Husky 2600 psi pressure washer starts then shuts off immediately
Try holding the wand while squeezing the trigger, or have an assistant do that. Then try and start it. It sounds like the trapped line pressure is too much for a cold engine. If it starts in this fashion you'll be all set.
If it does the same thing with less load on it, you could have 2 other possible issues. If this unit has a low oil shutdown switch, it will act the way you are describing also. Check the oil level. The other possible cause could be some blockage in the fuel line, or gunk on the needle and seat in the carb from bad fuel or sitting a long time and varnishing up.
