Get the manual.

The source plays a part in this, too. Get ITS manual.

Making loud humming noise only.but if you plug

If I understand this correctly: with NO input or cable attached it hums; with an RCA cable attached it works. (What does 'some' mean in this regard?)

You say that connecting the RCA cable improves its sound. That tells me you're supplying a ground through the RCA cable for stray voltage in the sub.

It seems there may be a basic power issue if it hums with no input. Sometimes a given power source in a home may be wired differently than others or may insufficient grounding, which can result in hum. Try reversing the sub's power plug or move it somewhere else.

Since the sub contains its own electronics it is also susceptible to strong external magnetic fields. Keep it and any signal cables leading to it some distance away from other electrical devices like TV's.

Where is the fuse? I thought I would check to see

Speaker system themselves do not have fuse. If it has a built in amplifier it will have fuse in the circuit, but a blown fuse indicated a short which means replacing the fuse will not cure the problem. It will just blow another fuse untill the short is corrected. Electronic circuits shorts because of defective semiconductors. Sometimes capacitor shorts out too.

No output from speaker

Test the speaker to see if it works.

Remove grille cover, take out the screws holding the speaker, disconnect the wires from the speaker ( note the + and -)

Apply a signal to the speaker, It will work or not.

If speaker is working, then
Could be that the amp section has failed.

The replament amp is not expensive.

No sound for Velodyne ct-100 sub woofer

Sounds like a dead amp. You could check the xformer output and the amp IC's with a VOM.

These amps do not cost a lot, about $40.00. and are easy to replace.

Need the Velodyne VX-11 fuse location & type ¿?

Already answered for DPS-12 in 2011 which suggests a fuse where the power enters, However, your manual mentions no fuse, but 'protection circuitry'. If there is a fuse, it will be inside and on a circuit board. All fuses have the rating on the end cap of glass fuses and on the side of ceramic fuses, which as also colour coded. https://velodyneacoustics.com/pdf/vx-11/VX-11Manual.pdf

We have a 2.5 year old Velodyne EQ-Max8 Subwoofer. It has suddenly started making loud pulsing sounds. Are you able to give us any advice as to what may be wrong with it? Thanks

It sounds like you may have ripped the passive (the rubber material around the speaker that stretches when the speaker hits. If the passive is not ripped then it may be picking up static, or it could be blown. You can purchase a noise filter fairly cheap and try that.
