Bulova Millennia With Vibra-Alarm 98A48 Wrist Watch Questions & Answers
Replaced watch battery on bulova millennia alarm
Watches, well most quartz anyway, are programmed to alert it's wearer to the fact that the battery in the watch is growing weak and needs to be replaced. There are watches that use a 2 second split and then there are those, like my Bucherer quartz that hops at 5 second intervals. Remember, just because you put a "new in the package" battery in your watch does not guarantee that it is new by way of battery power. Some batteries go completely dead while sitting on shelves waiting to be sold. For those of you that don't know, take it from a man of experience, never... ever... ever... store loose change and opened, new or used, coin or watch batteries in the same junk drawer. They will combine chemically to cook off the battery cells like a .22 rounds and pieces can fly pretty fast. Have a great day!

So yes, it appears that it was a correct diagnostic - otherwise it would have fix it himself. And the price is about right , $150m is the price just for the inspection and basic labor, the rest is extra - it depends on what else is damaged: a single ruby will cost you around $200.
The alarm section can't be connected to your present problem, it's been inactive for too long to pose a problem to the main mechanism.

It sounds like at least one button is dirty, and needs cleaning. Sometimes you can spray some electrical contact cleaner on just the switch and that will work. If it doesn't, take the watch into a Jewelry Repair shop and see if they agree with my assessment. Of course, there could be another problem, but electrical contacts slowly oxidize over time, and this is a pretty common problem.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
Help needd to find out
Pull out the winding stem (crown) when second hand reaches 12 o'clock, set main time by ajusting stem, next press and hold A button "near 9 o'clock" hands will move quickly, when close to matching main time, release A button and press in and out quickly until it matches main time. The model sometimes is on the case back or inside the case back and the serial number inside on the movement. Therefore you would have to remove the case back. Be careful if you do this so you do not damage the case. Maybe better to have a shop do this for you.
