Remove the work bowl completely and separate the work bowl, lid and pusher sleeve. Plug the base into the wall outlet and press the on switch. Use a pen to depress the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the processor. If you don't hear a sound, then call Cuisinart and get it repaired. If you do hear a sound:
1. Put the work bowl on first, making sure the handle is facing front
2. Put the lid on, making sure the hollow feed tube is facing the back of the food processor
3. Put the pusher sleeve in, making sure the sliding lock switch faces toward the front of the processor

Turn the machine on - it should now be working

the drive connection for the blades has probably stripped out and not driving the blades when there is work to do

Check for and test any internal inline fuses.

Make sure the tab on the lid is making contact with the "tower" in the back and that the work bowl is locked properly into place so that the plastic tabs show on each side toward the bottom of the work bowl.

Here is an idea that was posted by another fixya expert (Tha Mp3 Doctor ). I am taking a chance here and hopefully this will work. His directions also tell how to make sure the bowl is seated correctly. Best wishes.

I would just remove and replace the work bowl, and then reposition the strainer, etc again. I don't know what the magic is, but if I just put everything back in palce exactly as the user manual lays out, I can always get it to work again.

You don't say what model, but all Cuisinarts have a safety interlock built in to the bowl assembly. The cover must be removed from the bowl to release this interlock before you can remove the bowl from the motor base.
