The timing is fixed, if you suspect the timing is off the only adjustments available are the .030 clearance from pickup to flywheel and the shear Key that positions the flywheel on the crankshaft. You would also want to make sure your valve clearance is .030 as well, the issue sounds like a valve leaking, a dead cylinder or mal adjusted valve clearance causing the exhaust valve to hang open just a bit.

Should see a bracket with holes in it .and a small throttle bracket that has a hook shape the spring locks on to it.

try taking the air shroud of and disconect the kill switsh wires from the coils and do a continuity from the green wire from the white plug in connector, it should be the wires to the left of the starter. then try to start it as usual. Let me know how you are doing. good luck.

Mine did exactly the same thing until I figured out the replacement fuel cap I bought wasn't vented.I put a vented one on and away I went.Also check for a collaping fuel line,and check the screen inside the gas tank,those corrode sometimes.Hope that helps !
