Deadbolt wont unlock
Remove the deadbolt cover by removing the 2 screws. This will get you inside the deadbolt. Try using a screwdriver to pull it back. You may in the end have to break the unit in order to get it out and replace it. I have the same thing happen with a deadbolt. I ended up having to destroy the unit to get it out. You are going to replace it anyway so do whatever it takes to get it to unlock so you can then remove it from the door and install a new one. You do not want a deadbolt that will not unlock.
Opening dead bolt without key
easy one this ,get a battery drill ,HSS drill bit and just drill the barrel out takes about a minute ,then when you get to the end of the lock ,do not go any further just pull the lock barrel out and put a screwdriver in and turn the slot at the bottom and the door will open .Do it often here when tourists loose the key on the beach or have bag snatched or pick pocketed and the spare key is in the UK .
DEADBOLT INSTALLATION PROBLEM
Did you cut the bar to the correct lenght?(the flat or square one that connects to the thumb latch or other cylinder?) Too long and you'll bind the lock.Good Luck
Installing a deadbolt in a steel door. need to
A really, really, REALLY sharp chisel can be used to pierce the steel door skin enough to form the mortise you need for the bolt plate. Do not use a wood chisel unless you never ever intend to use it on wood again or have the means to completely renew the cutting edge. Cutting the opening for a plate in a metal door jamb is another issue since it is probably too thick to yield to a chisel. If the jamb is 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick you can just drill a hole in it to accept the extended bolt. it will be just as strong as a plate (maybe stronger.)
Loose top lock
tighten the two screws on the inside of the door phillips screwdriver
Won't unlock, handle is loose
Tighten all screws on lock to a firm tightness. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN as to bend the lock casing! Snug only. Use powered graphite to inject into lock and add to key working it back and forth into the lock.

Will one of the newer sensors work in place of my 1457 sensor?
It's possible that one of the newer sensors could work in place of your 1457 sensor, but it depends on the specifications of the newer sensors and the compatibility with your base unit. The I MAX1457 sensor, which is a highly integrated analog-sensor signal processor optimized for piezoresistive sensor calibration and compensation. However, I have no information about its compatibility. If you're looking for a replacement sensor, I suggest contacting the manufacturer of your base unit to inquire about compatible sensors. Alternatively, you can check the user manual of your base unit to see if it lists compatible sensors. Garage door opener sensors are not universal. Safety sensors can only communicate with garage door openers from the same brand.
