I believe this unit uses a chest strap for monitoring heart rate and the clip you are referring to maybe the safety and the clip attaches to your running apparel. Go to iconfitness.com click on to customer service then parts replacement enter the manufacturer and model name and you should be able to get and manual for this on PDF

lynda there should be a reset button located some were near the bottom front of the machine try hitting the reset button, it acts as a circuit breaker switch.

Hello there, If you go to iconservice.com you will be able to find a free downloadable pdf file there under the manuals section. Then select nordictrack in the brand and then put apex 6100 in the model name then do a search. You will see a list of manuals come up. Pick the correct model number. (located on the lower frame below the walk belt.)
Download and print.
There are instructions in there on the custom programs and how to set them up.

Please note that these instructions don't apply to all models of treadmills. Many recent models, including all models with touchscreen consoles, do not have the capability for the user to calibrate the speed. Speed calibration is a process that is used to correct imbalances in the machine's operating speed. Please note that this procedure involves pushing the machine to its maximum speed very quickly. Do NOT stand on the treadmill while performing this procedure. First, you need to enter calibration mode on the console. To do this, press and hold the STOP and SPEED INCREASE buttons (this will be either an up arrow or a + (plus) symbol). While holding these buttons, insert the safety key onto the console. This will cause the machine to go into calibration mode. After this has occurred, you may let go of the buttons and the safety key. Next, press the stop button once. This will enter advance the screen to the next feature of calibration mode. As said previously, do not stand on the treadmill while performing this procedure. Press and hold the speed increase button. Watch the console. You will see a number on the display that will increase as you hold the speed increase button. Continue to hold the speed increase button until the number changes to "85." This will take the treadmill to its maximum speed, which will also be displayed on the console. Please note that the example below only demonstrates the console displaying "85", not the treadmill's operating speed.

we can not guess at what might be wrong if you don't tell us what it isn't doing the way it is supposed to .

ever think about asking Nordic track I have never had any need of a machine to walk on .. I go fishing and used to walk over 3 miles daily doing what I love outdoors in the sunshine .even things with a woman .

The belt could be worn out or has broke and will need to be replaced.

perhaps it needs new battery

If the electrical outlets work and are fine unplug the treadmill and then check the power cord for any damage. Replace the power cord if it's damaged. If the power cord is fine and looks fine then check the circuit breaker switch on the treadmill and reset the circuit breaker switch if it's tripped.
