You also may want to take a close look at the control panel. I found a grouping of 3 resistors at approximately center of the board that were cut on one end. Probably a design change poorly done. Somehow, just out of the blue, those loose ends touched and blew that fuse. Removed resistors........problem solved.

Pressing the Clear/Pause button works. Sometimes. Most of the time, about a microsecond after pressing Clear/Pause, it goes right back to def1. Most of the time, pressing ANY button doesn't work. Usually takes me 10 to 20 tries to get anything to work. My microwave is about 3 months old. I will never buy Emerson again.

The microwave may not be cooking at full power, check the settings. If okay the magnetron is on it's way out and will eventually fail.

Unplug and remove top, to the right where the keypad is, look for a square silver device with fins bolted to the inner chassis that is your magnetron, remove one wire lead, set test meter to ohms and check resistance, if good, should be well below 1ohm, if no reading it is open and needs to be replaced. Be aware of the high voltage capacitor, remove charge by shorting the 2 points.

Hello,the problem of this unit is power related.First, remove the unit's power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may cool by then and might power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.When electric current comes from the power outlet into the cooker, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the unit. So if the cooker doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the machine.So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.If any machine or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. Hello there, the Emerson product which you are refering to has been synonymous with the particular problem you are experiencing. The reviews about this product have lots of complaints relating to the abrupt malfunction of the un it as a result of the breaker being tripped. basically what the solution is requires some replacement of parts like some of the fuses as well as the control board, HV diode and high voltage capacitor for the unit might require replacement depending on what exactly is determined as the problem. Although according to expert reviews the problem is recurrent after it is initially fixed. You might want to just replace the unit as apparently the unit has been discontinued by Emerson due to the problems. But if you cant afford a replacement now you can simply get a repair tech run a diagnostic test for you to determine exactly which components require replacement.

Here is a Manufacturer authorized substitution: M0S0885, it looks different then the original which has been discontinued but it should work. I found it on Sears parts direct for $64.99.
