Sounds like you have a ''smart board" or door switch problem, try to un plug the product, push all the 'buttons' on the control panel and then plug the product back in, if this does not correct the problem you have a component that has failed.

If you are not properly trained in repair of microwave oven changing coils etc can fry you. What you are calling a coil is probably the high voltage transformer. Consider taking it to the shop or replacing it.

I hope it's still under warranty. Think about getting a replacement, and about next time: Get a surge protection device between the oven and the wall plug! I have suffered from power surges in my house as well, and a surge protector is the only cure.

I can't tell without more exploration what may be the cause, but 1st let's start fresh. Reset the MW by unplugging and replugging the unit. Then set up the clock, etc by following the manual. For reference, go to http://www.emersonradio.com/resources/owner_manuals/manual_1313021007.pdf for instructions. There are many interlock micro-switches that must all work when the door is closed. Take one step at a time, then come back.

Need more info: Model #? Does MW light come on? Does turntable rotate? Can you set the clock? etc. Could be fuse, magnetron, HV transformer, or more.

Check if it has a cover screwed in side the unit , it should be behind that.

There are a couple of microwave ovens out there where after it has finished cooking, the light and fan continue to run until you open the door. Then the fans shuts off, but the light remains on. When you close the door, then the light shuts off. If the light and fan go back on when you close the door, then you have a bad door switch. Pls be clear of what u mean of not heating. Oven's Magnetron , diode , hi-volt capacitor
Can be the main cause of not heting .

Grab bulb in light receptacle and quickly spin in circles counter-clockwise. Wait to recover from dizziness and throw bulb away. Get new bulb, place in light receptacle and spin clockwise being careful not to over tighten which could result in new bulb breakage and rendering it worthless. Throw up and recover from dizziness.

I an afraid the foil got it . cheaper to replace than fix its not only got the key pad but the power supply and tube fried to I bet.
