I can tell you what we did when we had that issue with our Maytag microwave. The door wouldn’t latch correctly and an appliance repairman said we would have to get a new microwave. My husband took the spring out and decided to just put the spring back. It had come unhooked somehow. He put it back and it’s worked fine going on 3 years later.

There are no user serviceable parts on microwave ovens, due to the danger of running one without the door in place. You will need to take it to a service centre. All of the screws are security screws that you need a special tool to remove.

Lamp replacement involves removal of the cabinet.

Usually this is due to loosened mounts inside the oven. The mounts hold the door switches and grab the door hooks when it the door is closed. The solution is to realign and tighten the mount screws inside. It's less liekly, but it could be a weak or worn door open lever inside. I only advise people to work on a microwave if they're fully informed and aware of the deadly hazards and necessary precautions.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose or corroded connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron
- shorted high voltage diode

The keypad control board is the likely problem, but the door switches should be checked first.

Unfortuneately the keypad control board must be replaced to resolve this issue. But keep in mind the part alone is more expensive than some microwave ovens.
