you can try using rear view mirror adhesive, available at auto parts stores. Get it very clean with alcohol first.

Vintage farberware percolator does not stop percolating

There is a thermostat in the bottom of the percolator that is broken. It would normally cut off the percolator heating element after the water reaches a certain temperature. It can be replaced but it takes a little skill. There is a video on eBay. If you want to just unplug the percolator, time it for 1 minute per cup.

How do I make coffee in a Farberware 'superfast'

Hi 2 scoops of coffee to 3 cups. Then work it from there, to get it to your taste. It is done when it stops perking. When that happens the keepwarm element takes over until you unplug it. Good luck. Ron

How many scoops of coffee

All depends on how you like your coffee, And the size of cups you are using.

The standard is: 64oz. of water and 2oz to 3oz of coffee for 12 cups, That is about 5 to 6oz.of coffee per cup.
If you want a strong cup of coffee use 1.5 gal. of water and 9oz of coffee for 36 cups. If NOT use more water and less coffee.

REMEMBER, Don't let the coffee sit in your coffee brewer for long time.

Old farberware percolator was working

If you look at the well in the bottom of the percolator where the stem fits, you will probably find it gotten coated with minerals that have built up over long use. This can reduce the percolator's performance. Lime-Away is a cleaning solution available at big-box home improvement places and hardware stores that can help dissolve the buildup. Pour some into the bottom of the percolator and let it sit a while. Then, while wearing gloves, stuff the well with steel wool and work it back and forth to scrub away the buildup. (Use plain steel wool, not a Brillo pad or other brand with soap. The soapy ones are too stiff. I also don't know if the soap and the Lime-Away will play nice together.) Rinse out the percolator and give it a wash, and the well should be much cleaner. You should find it works better. If you can't find Lime-Away you can use white vinegar, but it's not as effective on the built-up scale.

Thanks for using Fixya! If you find this helpful, please take a moment to leave a thoughtful rating.
