A lot of people have the same exact problem and there are two reason for the problem , first the headphone is not working fine so try a different head phone and see if that work and second the headset port on the IPOD is bad and the only way to correct that is to replace the IPOD.
You can also do this steps in correcting the problem, the earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.

How do you unlock an

Hi,
If you can’t remember the current combination, the only way to clear it and enter a new one is to restore the iPod nano software.
You can use iTunes to update or restore iPod software.
If you choose to restore, all data is erased from iPod nano, including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod nano settings are restored to their original state.
Thank You

My ipod nano 4th gen is lock. i bought it on

Hello,

there are to options by which you can unblock the ipod. Follow any of the procedures tomorrow.
Unlock with the Primary Computer
  1. Plug the iPod into the primary computer linked to that iPod, the first computer you synchronized it with unless you have designated another computer as the primary computer.
  2. Open itunes and sync the iPod as normal.
  3. Remove the iPod, following the normal removal procedure. The iPod unlocks automatically as you remove it.
Unlock by Restoring
  1. Restore the iPod to factory settings if you do not have access to your primary computer. This erases all of the data you have stored on the iPod.
  2. Plug your iPod into the new computer you want to be the primary computer. Open iTunes and click on the "Restore" button.
  3. Reload your data, if it is available and sync your iPod. Remove it following normal procedures.
Good luck.

I pod nano not reconized by laptop with vista usb

Which USB ports are you using? I just had this issue on a customer's computer and it turns out that a 5 port USB 2.0 hub they had installed in the pc wasn't functioning properly and so I would get a code 10 on their iPod nano. I plugged it into the onboard USB 1.0 ports and it installed correctly and synched. I would suggest trying other USB ports. If that doesn't work then go to Programs and Features in Control Panel and uninstall all apple products and then reboot and reinstall iTunes.

Ipod nano 4th gen. 8gb SCREEN LOCKED

restore iPod
  1. Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
  2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
  3. Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
  4. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
  5. Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
  6. Click Restore.
  7. If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
  8. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    • Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    • Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
  9. During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
  10. After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
but unfotunately all your previously synced congs will be lost,,, but its ok then, because you can use your ipod again.

I locked my ipod nano and cant remember the code

Hi,

You have to restore it. Plug it into your computer and under the devices tab click your ipod and click the restore button under the summary tab. This unfortunetly will wipe your ipod clean but if you've synced it recently there will be a backup saved. After its finished being restored sync it and itunes will ask if you wanna use your backup. click yes and everything will be the same as it was before you forgot your passcode.

Hope this helped!
Please refer back for further help!
