No, you do not need to be on a course for it to acquire satellites, however new units sometimes need to be left outside with clear sky view for up to 30 minutes to fully acquire signals.

This is an error on THEIR end. More than likely, your unit id in the upper right hand corner of the course manager says FFFFFFFF. Call them at 1-877-977-0162

you have to press the enter button, the bottom left hand button, while standing over where you took your shot from. It will then tell you the distance once you are again standing over your ball.

Try turning off the 3g. a lot of gps programs use the wireless gps, which just isnt as accurate, but the satellite gps gets interfered with by the 3g on the phone. Also, go to location services under settings on the phone, and make sure its turned ON for golflogix.

If your light comes on, but the lcd is blank, the lcd is fried. Check ebay, there was someone selling a fix the lcd service, or call golflogix if you are still under warranty (even if you arent, i got mine replaced for 125. not too bad considering i paid 300 for it originally.

Sounds like a dead handset. If you just bought it, I would take it back and get a different one. if not, call golflogix.

Yeah, its an error on their end, I had that. They had to have me delete some folders and they did something to their server to fix it. Give them a call, 877-977-0162

The cable can be a pain. It has to be slid all the way down to the very bottom of the socket on the gps, even when its tight, it might not be connected all the way. I usually wiggle it left and right while pushing it down.
