I recommend a reset. See if your unit has a reset button.. hold the power button for 10 seconds. Switch off and disconnect it from power supply/batteries. Also disconnect any other units connected to it. Leave this disconnected for 30 minutes. All the electric charges stored should drain out.. It should do a soft reset itself, then restart it.

Sometimes when a battery is left drained for too long, the cells die and cannot hold a charge anymore. You will need to replace this device or send it in for service to get a battery replacement. If it is not under warranty, it will be cheaper to just replace it.
You can also use a car charger to operate it while plugged in all the time.

Nextar does not provide map updates due to the cost.

I had the same problem. Use a paperclip and push the reset button. It's around the power port.

There are two things to try.

First try a unit reset. The process for doing a reset should be in the user manual near the back under trouble shooting. A reset will force it to reload the software. If it has become corrupted this will clear it on some units.

Next go to Nextar and look for a update or system patch. These are not the maps but the operating system patches. Usually these replace all the files and routines and fix things like your error. However the patches are not always available until well after a problem shows up. You should also contact Nextar support and see if they can help with either the patch/update or if you need help doing a hard reset.

If it is under warranty you can just send it in or exchange it. You may need to check with where you purchased or Nextar to find out if you are covered.If it is out of warrenty be careful as repairs can cost more than a new unit.

Sounds like you have it in Bicycle or Pedestrian mode instead of Automobile


go to Tools.... Settings.... System..... Usage Mode .... make sure you have it on Automobile

I had this same navigator and had nothing but problems with it , so I pitched it in the trash, In my opinion it was junk.

Go on the net and download the new Version Exemple:
( download Nextar Q4004 update if it Mangella download the upgrade for it what ever is name off your Nextar Check on your Setup for the right Version...

Hi.
You are facing this problem because of the US GPS Satellite because there's a sudden change with the code signal which leads to GPS signal anomalies.
Even though you've traded it. the problem is still there.
It's better to go with another brand or model.
As this problem cannot be fixed with this unit.

Press the "Reset' button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation button can work properly.

I actually had the exact same problem...

And after searching google and ask for 2 hours to no avail I noticed SEVERAL other people owning this GPS wanted to get some new map updates


Well after having done a little research on the nextar website and to my surprise they actually had a contact phone number where someone answered on the second ring....

She then placed me on hold for about 30 seconds then came back saying that several people have called and asked for the same thing so Nextar is in the process of making them right now...


They explained to me that map upgrades will be available by end of this summer :D


Nextar fans may rejoice as our long awaited map updates finally have some light shined down upon them :)

make sure it is not trying to take you to your previous destination, if you didn't get to your previous destination it can be a problem, you will have to go to the menu & clear route

Just go to the dealer - take the car and the dealer will most likely get you up and going. I would NOT - offer that you formatted it.

I would start here if i was you. If you download the maps and then upload them onto a new SD card you should be ok.
