For a start, the user guide shows the scroll lock as being F5 The Num lock key is above the centre of the Numbers key pad
I wonder why you need to lock the Fn Key - except to stop others accessing the useful functions on your keyboard...

Your battery is at too low a charge.
here is a game plan:
Unplug the computer from power
take the battery out of your laptop,disconnect the battery
connect the power to your laptop see if it comes up
If it does come up, your battery has one or two bad cells in it
You can prove it is the battery by using a battery from a known good computer that uses a similar battery.

you can stop wasting time by ording a new battery on E-Bay. Your computer will work fine untill you have the money to by a new battery

Reasons for that may be :
1. Bad battery - replace it.
2. Wrong power saving settings - you can set it according to your operating system's control pannel.
3. You may have a virus - if you run windows, try booting to safe mode by pressing F8 at the early boot stage and check if the computer still shuts down after 1 minute. If not, you need to run a virus checking software to try and find the malicious code that causes this.

5. The BIOS may get the wrong temperature from the motherboard of the laptop. try to run an update for new software BIOS update from HP

First try in a different wall socket.. Then check if there is nay damage in the port or if the port is loose were you connect the adaptor.. if there is any damage then the issue is with the system.. Take it to a local tech.. if you have a alternate adaptor check with that.. check the adaptor with your friends computers... Replace the adaptor id its defective.. If you are not very sur about the problem then take it to a loca tech

There is one other options before you decide to take apart your laptop.. if you have an extra keyboard that either hooks up to a usb port, or even a regular ps/2 mouse and you can get a usb adapter for this which is just called a ps2 to usb adapter, they are about $2. You can hook this up to your laptop and use this in the mean time. Just thought I would give a suggestion before you decided to take apart your laptop, especially if you are not too familiar with it

What I do in a case like this is do a system restore back to the time it worked. There is a chance that something in the registry got messed up and a restore should get it working again.

The issue might be due to the corrupted audio drivers or windows services being stopped.

Update the BIOS and check if doesnt work, try running a recovery on the sys.
If problem still persist than contact manufacturer as the sys has to be repaired

Press the Print screen keyboard, then open MS Word and paste like any other text, or file. Use CTRL+ V or right click and paste

In case you can open (I mean disasemble) the laptop do it and clean every air inlet - outlet. In case you can't use a soft brush and clean the inlet - outlet from the outer side. After that you may use CLEAN AIR in order to improve the cleaning effect (not before the brush because all the dust will go in the laptop). Leave the laptop some minutes to calm and check the results.

The monitor does not have a button to turn it on/off it s supposed to start with the power button of the computer, if your laptop is still under warranty i recommend that you call hp support. this laptops are known to have problems with the nvidia integrated video chipset, if this is your case, you may need to have the motherboard replaced 1-800-hpinvent

First off you want to make sure you have the driver for your webcam installed.

Second what are you trying to use, to view your cam threw ? yahoo messenger, skype, msn, aim ? Or are you trying to open it on your computer just to look at yourself ?

The software for the Bluetooth should be on the control panel screen, if not, go to the HP web site HP.com and find the Software and Drivers tab. You will need the full number off the bottom of your computer or allow the web site to install search software that will check your computer and present you with current versions of software for your DV7

If you mean how do you save (or print) a picture of what is on your screen: hit the "prtsc" or "print screen"button (usually top row, towards the right). Then the image is stored on your clipboard. You can use most graphics program, including Paint, and xnView. Open the program, and either use paste or in the case of XnView, import clipboard. You can then save it or print it or both from there.

You need a new A/C extenal power pack - yours has failed - the beeping sound it battery being totally flat.
