How do I put the printer control panel down on the Lexmark 5650
It latches into place and is intended to stay in place, once pulled out. From a Google Search:
"If you place your fingers up behind the control panel in the middle you will find a release button allowing the panel to turn back in. Baring any damage to the load or eject trays, Check the back of the eject tray with a flash light by opening the top of your printer where you insert your cartridges. (make sure power is off first so that cartridges will not move over and be in the way.) . Next, check for any obstructions of paper, dirt, or foreign objects.
Next if there is nothing to be found, use a pencil eraser and a couple cue tips and rubbing alcohol to clean residue that builds up on the rollers where the paper feeds through.

Close the top, make sure that the load tray is not damaged and is inserted properly. (You can remove the back 2 screws on the load tray and get access to the inside to check for any other obstructions and cleaning.)

What is an ORC?
ORC is life form in the Lord of The Rings. What you want is OCR which stands for Optical Character Recognition. It is the software that converts a scanned document into a string of characters that you can edit to correct OCR errors. To be able to scan to a computer the computer and the printer must be connected through a USB port or be part of the same network. When you press the scan button, the printer tries to communicate with the computer and launch the scanning software installed on the computer.Install the software that shipped with your printer, connect the computer and the printer. If everything is correctly connected and installed, the scanning software will open to receive the scanned document.
