First, make sure that the power is on. If needed, open the front cover and open the paper output tray. Open the paper output cover and wait for the ink cartridge carrier to move to the right. The ink access door should open automatically when the cartridges are in position. Push down on the cartridge lock lever until it clicks; the lever forms a U-shape in front of the individual cartridge. The Black cartridge is on the right. Color is on the left. Pull the old cartridge straight out. Prepare the new cartridge and gently push it into the cartridge slot until it touches the back of the slot. Push the cartridge lock lever up until it clicks to lock the cartridge into place.
I hope this helps. See the pictures and video clips here: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART137790 .

I DON'T KNOW. I HAVE HAD FREE ADVICE WHEN CALLING CANON. CONSIDER TURNING OFF PRINTER,
REMOVING CONNECTORS AT PRINTER FOR HALF A MINUTE, PLUG IN CORDS AND TURN ON PRINTER.
IT MAY RESET ALL. REINSTALL INK CARTRIDGES, LOOK FOR PAPER JAM AND RELOAD PAPER. PRINTER MAY REQUIRE YOU TO PRINT PAGE TO ALIGN PRINTING etc.
CANON HELP LINE RECENTLY POSTED. 1-800-828-0294 - MY PIXMA HAS A SMALL SCREEN BUT NO LIGHT. I WISH IT DID. I DON'T LIKE GETTING ON MY KNEES TO READ THE DARN SMALL DARK PRINT.
IF I ONLY WANT ONE COPY, I JUST PUSH THE 'OK'
BUTTON A FEW TIMES THEN THE BLACK PRINT ONE.
I DON'T BOTHER READING THE DARN THING IF I DON'T HAVE TOO. I DO HAVE A SMALL FLASLIGHT NEARBY - I USE SOMETIMES ;-))
i don't know but if you think all the paper is removed, consider a' cancel of print' if computer requested printing.
push stop button to see if fault cancels. if fault remains,
try shutting off printer and restating it [ push ON for 20 sec.]
if fault remains, pull power cord from back for 30 seconds,
plug back in and push ON. PLEASE refer to this link. if fault remains. <https://ugp01.c-ij.com/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/TS8000%20series/EN/ERR/1313.html>
i have called cannon for no charge help - maybe try them.
If you get a skipped vertical line or error code 5100, your timing strip needs cleaning. You must be very careful not to rip it when clenaing. See short video for refernece. This fix will work on all Canon Pixma inkjet printers.
This error indicates that an internal error has occurred which may be resolved by resetting the printer. Please follow these steps for isolating and resetting the printer:
1. Open the printer's front cover, and then open and close the print head lock lever (do not remove the print head).
2. Make sure all ink tanks are seated properly.
3. Make sure all packing materials have been removed.
4. Make sure no paper is jammed in the printer.
5. Disconnect the printer cable from the printer.
6. Close the front cover and turn the printer off.
7. Unplug the printer from the power source, and then plug it back in after five minutes.
8. Power on the printer.
If the error returns, the printer will require service options.
Chose my answer as "Helpful" if you fix the problem. Thanks!
