What to do about error 6A00 - no dealer within 2

Hi there

Error A600
Your A600 is a paper path error, usually related to the purge unit. Try checking the purge unit for paper stuck in it.

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
Almost 90% of the time is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.

Look for paper, paper clips, push pins, screws flower bud pods or the like.

The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.

The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it. It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

The purge unit is a white plastic assembly (on the right side of the printer where the print head homes) that is spring loaded on rides on a rail.
You can try moving it back and forth about 5 times or so and clean the rail with a cleanex and putting a little bit of some light oil on it and then close everything up and try it.

If you found this useful all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Why does my MX850 tell me an ink tank is low on

Sometimes the little chip on the cartridge lies, and these can't be refilled unless you change the chip as well or purchase a chip resetter.

Says ink tank level low when it is still half

This usually happens when you are using aftermarket inks. The sensors on the cartridges are not always up to specs. The problem does not occur on OEM cartridges.
Sometimes you can remove and reseat the same cartridge and the printer will resume. If the problem persists after trying the remove and reseat procedure, the cartridge should be replaced and the defective cartridge discarded.
If you are near an office supply that rebates for old cartridges and you are reloading your own cartridges, take the old cartridge in and replace it with an OEM cartridge so the problem doesn't repeat.
Hope this helps.

Cannon multipass F60 scanner/printer striped color printing

What you have is a dried up color cartridge. You can try to use the <clean print heads> in the diagnostic tools section of you priner software. (usually, just try to print something & the window will appear) Sometimes you have to clean heads, then print test page like 2 or 3 times before it clears up. If that doesn't correct it, don't worry. Have your color cartridge filled (staples, office depot, & other stores do it cheap) - or - replace it with a new cartridge. You may have to run the clean print heads program after installing a new cartridge, but this will definitely fix your problem.

Canon MX850 dust under ADF glass

This is a newer unit, and Canon has a one year warranty, any chance this is under warranty? Canon did design this as a sealed unit, no parts available except the entire assembly, and no dis-assembly instructions.

We cannot use the ADF on our Canon mx850. From

No. It's not probably not you.
If you have placed the paper between the guides, and snugged them up, it should go (relatively) straight -simple as that.
If not, then likely something is missing, bent, or broken. Return it for a new replacement - that's what warranties are for.

Canon mx850, paper jams when reloading for two

Mel, this is what I found in the online manual:

Set the Ink Drying Wait Time longer.
Doing so gives the time enough to dry the printed surface so that paper curling and ink blots are prevented.

(1) Make sure that the machine is turned on.
(2) Open the printer properties dialog box.
See Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Control Panel.
(3) Click the Maintenance tab and then Custom Settings.
(4) Drag the Ink Drying Wait Time slide bar to set the wait time, and then click Send.
(5) Confirm the message and click OK.

Make sure that the actual size of the paper is suitable for automatic duplex printing.
The sizes of media suitable for automatic duplex printing are A4, Letter, A5, B5, and 5" x 7".
Load paper of suitable size and then press the OK button.
Make sure that the Page Size or Paper size setting matches the actual size of the paper with a size suitable for automatic duplex printing.
First, check the Page Size or Paper size setting in the application software you are printing from.
Then, check the Page Size setting on the Page Setup sheet in the printer properties dialog box (Windows) or the Paper size setting on the Page Setup dialog box (Macintosh).
Note
Depending on the version of the application program, the automatic duplex printing may not be supported.
Make sure that the type of loaded paper is suitable for automatic duplex printing on the Main sheet (Windows) or the Quality & Media sheet on the Print dialog box (Macintosh).
Note
To switch to manual duplex printing, follow the procedure below.

Open the printer properties dialog box, clear the Automatic check box on the Page Setup sheet, and reprint.
When performing manual duplex printing, note the following.
If you are printing three or more pages of a document with manual duplex printing, one side of all sheets of paper will be printed first. Turn over the paper and reload the paper in the machine, and then the reverse side of all sheets of paper will be printed. Be careful not to change the order of paper in the stack.
The procedure for reversing the paper varies depending on the staple side and printing orientation. Follow the on-screen instructions.
