Hp compaq desktop black screen message disk boot failure insert system press enter

The words "disc boot failure" are terrifying for most computer users.

A disc boot failure notification generally means that your hard drive and operating system may be useless.

Fortunately, there are a variety of ways to troubleshoot your system in order to salvage your computer.

You may need to restart your computer a number of times before you manage to fix the error, so don't get discouraged.

A couple things to check first, make sure there's no floppy disc/cd in the drives, and if you are comfortable with computers, you can enter the boot setup of your BIOS, and check to see that your hard drive is listed as the primary boot device.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

Turn off your computer by pressing and holding the power button until the computer shuts down.

Locate the boot disc for your operating system (OS).

Turn on your computer and insert the CD into the proper drive before your monitor reaches the BIOS screen.

If the computer cannot read the CD, eject it and wipe the readable side of the disc with a clean cloth.

Restart your computer and re-insert the CD.

If this does not begin to load your operating system

Restart your computer and press the "DEL" key when you reach the BIOS screen.

This will bring you to BIOS settings.

Make sure that your hard drive is enabled to be read by BIOS. Restart your computer.

Access the command prompt by pressing the "F8" button at the appropriate moment.

Your monitor will display a notification at the bottom of the screen when you can access the system options with "F8." From the menu that appears, select the "Command Prompt" option.

Enter the text "fdisk /mbr". On the next line, enter "sys c:" and press "Enter."

This will initiate a system restore of corrupted discs.

If this does not clear the disc boot error problem.

Turn off your computer and remove the power supply.

Remove the side panel from your hard drive tower by hand or with a screwdriver.

Locate the hard drive of your computer in the top-front section of the hard drive tower when viewed from the side.

Using your fingertips, make sure all connections to and from your hard drive component are secure.

Locate the BIOS battery, which is a circular battery found on the motherboard.

Make sure that all connections to and from the BIOS battery are secure.

Check the connection of your computer's RAM to your motherboard.

hope this helps

My computer Compaq presario model SR1950NXhas the blue screen of death i guess is what it is called. How do I fix it?

usually a BSOD is related to a driver problem. Try booting in safe mode (pressing F8 after turning on) and go to device manager and see if you have any problems showing.

Do you have a system disk? If so, try the tip listed below--even though it doesn't say it is for your specific problem, it should work.

My pc wont boot up.

It is possible, also try removing the BIOS/CMOS battery for about a minute then reinstall in the correct orientation.
This a common problem, either the BIOS is currupt or one or more components have failed on your mainboard. For instance a capacitor may have gone out of tolerence, in which case you could replace them. But it this is only a possibility, there are hundreds of components that may have failed. Replacing capacitors would only be some-thing you could try.
Depends on how much time and money you would like spent on it, just for the chance that it may work. Might be better to Buy a replacement board.

Your timeous rating of this solution is much appciated.
Its the thumbs up on the top right hand side of this solution.
Thanks.

I recently switched back to my FS7600 monitor and

A good place to start would be to go to start - control panel - system -hardware - device manager. Click display adapters and see if the PC first recognizes what you have installed and two, see if any other components are having troubles being identified.

I have a Presario SR1950NX that is not booting.

It may be the clogged fan that caused this problem then resulted to overheat. possibly you need to replace the motherboard. or first, try using a bootable cd to boot your pc up. it may also be an issue with your hard drive not booting up.

Compaq presario sr1950 nx desktop - won't start

My suggestion would be to open the case and unplug everything and then plug it all back in again.
To test individual components, unplug everything but the CPU, memory, and video card to see if it starts.
Then one by one, plug the other stuff in and try starting again.

Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.
