Mugisha, This could be a memory probably but very unlikely depending on the timing of your restart. If you restarted in the middle of running the BIOS update then the problem is very likely that you have the BIOS in a non-recoverable state. There are lots of warnings that say don't restart the computer and unlike 99.9% of software, this one can break your hardware. Your BIOS the part of your motherboard that sees all of the connected hardware and if it isn't working then nothing is going to work ever. The good thing is that motherboards aren't that expensive for desktops. Also your HD is still readable so you will be able to get your data off it if you need to. If you didn't restart early and did it when the installer said it was OK to then it could actually be an issue with RAM. Bad memory can/will cause your computer to not POST which is that screen you first get when powering up your computer, behind the HP splash screen. A quick easy way to test if you have bad RAM is to swap it out. Unplug your computer and open it up. Hopefully on the motherboard you will see multiple sticks of RAM. You can google search SD or DDR RAM to get an idea of what you are looking for. Next take one of the sticks out then plug the computer back in and power it up. See if it works and if it doesn't do the same thing with the other stick. If you only have 1 stick then you can't test this because you need at least one plugged in for your computer to work. If that doesn't work then you might have a dead motherboard from a bad BIOS update. Running BIOS updates always make me nervous because if anything goes wrong your motherboard is dead in the water. You can bring it to a computer repair shop to see if they can get it working again. Like the issue with the RAM there are other pieces of hardware that could be bad but people don't normally have the hardware laying around to swap out. Also they can take your hard drive out to backup the files needed if you do have a bad motherboard.
