There should be a wiring diagram with the new thermostat you can follow.
If not, remove the control panel cover from the outside unit and follow the diagram printed on the inside of the cover.
If there is not a diagram there, remove the panel from the indoor unit and use the diagram printed there.
If not one there tell us what brand thermostat and what terminals are on it and we can tell you which wire goes where.

I want to know where to insert my air filter
Air filter is located on the unit in the house.Bottom left or right side depending on setting of unit. Should be opposite of any electric or gas lines going into it.
Some filters are in the return duct work going into the unit.May not be marked.

Outside unit kicks on but inside fan sometime
Goodman air handlers (inside unit) fan have a delay timer that turn on the fan ,sometimes up to 3 minutes after the outside unit is on,this makes the a/c more efficiency.

My compressor takes about 30 minutes to kick on in
that seems like too long at most delays and lock outs that are built into a system throught the tstat and the outdoor systems defrost board should only take about ten minutes. at most twenty if you had a dual fuel system. (heat pump outside and gas furnace inside). check the installer programming on your tstat may have a compressor lock out set too long for some reason.that or possible bad lowvoltage connections or maybe ants in you contacts at compressor outside. could be many things

1998 GMC Jimmy A/C Compressor Leak
If the leak is in the hi/lo refrigerant lines replace the washer seals. If it is coming from the shaft behind the clutch, replace the compressor.

Hello, I have goodman 3 ton a/c that runs ok for
Try checking the coils. If there dirty then the pressure may be getting too high and tripping the breaker. The other thing to check is the connections on the contact in the condenser. If there rusted or corroded then they could be over amping. Hope this helps. Please re post with updates or questions. If you feel that this solution has helped then accept and rate. Thanks cj2176.

Not blowing cold air. Checked outside unit and
You may have a bad capacitor, fan relay/contactor, or motor. Check the capacitor for the fan, if the capacitor is ok, then check the fan relay/contactor. If this is ok, then the fan motor is bad.

How do you get a compressor to stop knocking like
Are there any specs for an oil charge? In theory the line dryer and vacuum pump should draw any moisture out. If you can drain the old oil it may have metal chips from the knocking and then bloe out the compressor with fresh oil. This would mean dicing and splicing the lines to the compressor to purge the old oil.
But then you start with a clean compressor, known quantity of oil and vacuum it down to refill. Is it cheaper than a new compressor?

Central air blowing warm air
2 things could be happening. 1, inside unit needs filter changed and coil cleaned. 2, unit is low on freon. A/C tech should be able to check for both. You can check the a/c coil to clean it yourself but to check for low freon this will have to be done by a a/c tech due to the complexity of the system. the ice is caused by a series of things however, check the a/c filter and the coil located behind the filter. this coil should be free of any debris. if you have indoor pets sometimes the hair clogs the coil causing the freeze up.. To clean the coil you need to get a small weed killing sprayer.. At the a/c supply house you can purchase cleaning solution that is easy to use an safe for the enviroment also leaves your house smelling great. if the coil inside has been cleaned check to see if the coil outside is clean if not you can clean it with a water hose by spraying the coils out. MAKE SURE TO KILL THE POWER beforehand. Also spry the water onto the coils only and spray in the oppisite direction of air flow. Have system checked by a/c tech if you do not feel comfortable doing any of these suggestions

A/c outside not working
The buzzing noise is your contactor drawing in from your thermostat. The fan part of your unit is on a different circuit from your outside A\C unit. Your thermostat is the conductor of the orchestra tying ths units together. It may well be that your A\C circuit breaker has tripped, if it has there is a reason for it's tripping. Resetting the breaker by turning it off then on may get your unit running, but a technician needs to ascertain why it tripped. Or it could be a bad contact switch inside the outside unit not letting enough electricity through the switch. More than likely the first issue. Good Luck

No "Cold" No "Good"man.........
Your on the right trackbut if the outside unit is running fine I have to say no :) . Disconnect the power from the unit and look for visible bulging in the Capacitor(will look like a frozen coke can) If no visible signs take your multimeter and check the micro farads fo the cap if 10% less than rating replace. Also look at the terminals conected to the compressor they may be melted . I would like to know the Capacitor ratings and what your measurments were.

AC Fan outside running slow
The brown wire goes to the capacitor. It probably shorted out with the nicked wire. Replace the capacitor.
