My iolo registry repair damaged my cd rom registry

My first thought is to open Device Manager (Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager button). Open DVD/CD-ROM drives by clicking on the + sign next to it, then highlight the drive and press DEL key. A message appears "Warning - you are about to uninstall this device" - click OK.

After it has been uninstalled, go to Action menu - Scan for Hardware Changes and the drive will be reinstalled.

Hopefully this will restore the function of your drive.

Youtube videos

Remove temporary files: install CCleaner, direct download from Piriform.com and let it run several times. First set this notch also under CCleaner Windows old prefetch data and then let it run. ce404d8a-d6a1-483e-961b-6416e57aad21.png Next goto Start - Control panel - under Programs: remove Programs and look for any unused programs: uninstall these. My Windows is dutch so this picture is of a dutch version of Win7. eeb7672f-a999-48c0-aec0-fbd6c4a8955b.png Then goto the folder where you have downloaded your youtube movies and remove very old ones you do not want to see anymore. Movies tend to be rather big in space. Now you should have some space again. If you want to know which files are biggest: install also from Piriform: Defraggler and open it, on the next tab File list you will see a list with the biggest files at the top: 0bbe3c61-ea0d-42ae-91b1-34aef8a5b21e.png If you have an SSD drive you do not need to run Defraggler to defrag your harddisk, Win 7 will take automatically care of the SSD, on a Sata drive however it is very wise to let Defraggler do its job and reorder the files so that all parts of one file are in line placed on the harddisk, which makes accessing it a lot quicker. So reading time of the data will be some faster ( less waiting time for you). You might also consider moving your documents and files to another disk. This might be an external harddisk with USB, or a new disk added in your computer, then you need a connector on the motherboard to be available. Have a look at these movies and info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbb9xrR49d8 Or you will need something like: http://www.seagate.com/products/laptop-mobile-storage/laptop-external-drives/ http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/install-remove-hard-disk-drive#1TC=windows-7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-add-remove-drive-letter#1TC=windows-7 Relocating documents to another drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5GK10DGLZk Good luck !!

I have a Dell Inspiron

When you flash the wrong BIOS, the motherboard is broken for good unless you have the factory utilities, which (I'm assuming you don't work in a Dell factory) you don't. Sorry. Your best bet is to buy a new motherboard and switch all your parts onto that mobo.

I am having a problem

Try this, install the IE add-on for Mozilla Firefox. Then click to an Internet Explorer only site and switch from the Firefox browser to embedded IE in Firefox using the IE tool. If the page renders correctly, it means that all the files and libraries in IE are good, which the IE tab tool uses, and that the problem is a component add-on or tool bar that has corrupted either you local profile or the all users profile.

WINDOWS XP ONLY:
Create a new user and log in using the new account. If the problem goes away, it is part of your IE user profile. If it does not, it is part of the All Users Profile that is corrupted. If the problem is your user profile, then set the file properties to view hidden and system files and delete the c:\documents and settings\[username]\Application\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

Otherwise, delete the corresponding folder from All Users.

WINDOWS 7 and VISTA:
Use the network and Internet tool to reset IE7 to it's default settings and then wipe cookies and temp files.

So I would recommend that you contact Dell support to see if you are still in warranty so they can get you a replacement motherboard.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions.

When I have two monitors plugged in, machine

  1. If the system has integrated video with a DVI expansion card, you can use two monitors.
  2. If the system has a PCI-E dual head video card (2 video connections on the video expansion card) then you can use 2 monitors.
  3. If the system has a single head PCI-E video card (ATI HD2400) with a single DVI port, then that card disables the on-board VGA port.
So first you have to find out what the hardware configuration actually is for the Video Card. Then we can look at the monitors and how they are connected.
Post back with details on the video card and the monitors you are trying to connect if you need further information.

Green LED on Dell Inspiron Desktop 530 - all OK?

Yes, on most desk top the green light in the back tells you that you have power to the cpu. Even though the unit is off it is telling you that the current supply is still there. This is a good feature if you move your unit as soon as you plug it in you know if the outlet is on or not.
