We get a lot of questions here on FixYa about how to restore factory settings. Here is your solution for your model. Toshiba has added a hidden partion on the hard drive to restore the original "out of the box" (OOB) experience. Just follow the following steps:

ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED ON YOUR HARD DRIVE IF YOU PROCEED. YOU WILL NEED TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER ADAPTER PLUGGED IN. DO NOT SWITCH OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS.


1) Hold down the power button for 10 (ten) seconds to switch off your machine.

Please note: Holding down the power button on the machine forces it to switch off. Any unsaved data will be lost.

2) Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on your notebook.

3) When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.

4) When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.

5) Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.

6) Select Recover to out-of-box state. Click Next again.

7) Click Next to Start recovery.

To format the hard disk and re-install Windows use the Windows installation CD, and the Windows Product Code on the label at the bottom of your laptop.

Boot up using the Windows installation CD and follow the instructions.

One of the installation early steps, the option to delete the existing partition, then create a new partition and then a full format on this partition (don't do a quick format) and complete the Windows installation.

Next install all of the Toshiba's computer/laptop device drives.

Next install the Windows service packs (SP2 & SP3 for XP, SP1 & SP2 for Vista)

Next Activate Windows via the Internet or by phone.

Next install your programs - Microsoft Office etc.
Next click on Start - Programs - Windows Update (for the latest updates).

For the Satellite model you will need to get the restore disks from Toshiba. There is one option that you can try but I doubt that it will work without using the disks. Its not going to harm your computer any if you try it and it doesnt work, I know on certain models of Toshiba this works, however with the Satellite's I believe the only option is the restore disks. Here is how to do it
Take your battery out of the bottom of your laptop, plug in with no battery, once you are plugged in, make sure your laptop is off. Hold down the zero key that is at the top, not the number kay pad but the top zero. While you are continuing to hold the 0 down power on the laptop, do not release the 0 until you see it boot up. If it takes, you will then see the option to restore. It may boot straight into windows or give you a keyboard error, if this is the case you will need to call toshiba and order the disks, they are 4.99 I believe. Hope this helps!

When your Toshiba Satellite laptop goes on the fritz, there are several instances where the best solution is to delete everything and start over. If your system frequently crashes or you can't remove a specific virus, you may want to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. While the easiest way to restore the system is to use the operating system restore disc, it is possible to restore the system without it. Each Satellite laptop also includes a hard drive recovery utility that lets you restore the operating system without the restore disc.

1. Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

2. Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.

3. Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."

4. Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

5. Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

6. Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

Reboot means to restart. If you mean this, then simply:Start > Shut Down > Restart.If you mean to re-image / restore to factory settings. You will need to restart with the system disc and follow instructions. Hope to have pointed you in the right direction.

Toshiba: BEFORE TURNING ON THE LAPTOP, press and hold the 0 (zero) button on the keyboard, then turn on the computer while holding the 0 (zero) button down. When the Toshiba logo screen appears, you can release the 0 key.

All data will be erased on your hard drive if you proceed. Make sure that the power wont be interrupted during this process. Do not switch off or restart your computer either.

-Shut the computer down completely
-hold the 0 (zero) key down and at the same time press the power on button release the power when the machine turns on
-when the computer starts beeping release the 0 key
-when the prompt comes up choose YES to continue with system recovery
-Select recover of factory default software and click NEXT
-Click Next again to start recovery

Try a different CD. iIf the computer doesn't recognize it at all, listen for the drive to spin and look for a blinking light on the CD tray. These signs do not necessarily mean the CD drive isn't broken. I would find the model number of your laptop and do a search on eBay for a replacement CD drive. These are very easy to switch out. If the new one works, then you're set. If it doesn't work, there may be an issue with your motherboard.

What I could recon from your question is that your webcam driver is not installed in your PC.

Please be informed that any Driver software depends upon the hardware make and Operating System. So, you need to know all these information's to do get going.

Please find the Driver software's of your webcam inside the installation disk provided with the System at the time of purchase. In case if you do not posses the same then you need to download the driver software from the web. As you have not mentioned the Operating System you are using, I am unable to give you the direct download link.

Even here you need to be careful to download the correct software for your PC. You need to be exact with the System Model number and the OS that you are using.

After you have downloaded the driver, to install just plug in the webcam on to your PC and then Double click on the driver setup.exe file and go on clicking 'Next' until you get the 'Finish' option and restart the PC.

perhaps you need to reinstall the operating system,the system files might be corrupted because of power problem,and there's "windows loading files" thing,so the windows cannot go further because it cannot find some files while loading. do you need any help with installing operating system?

thats a DVD CD Rom drive, when have a problem change.

Remove the DC cord, and the battery reinstall the DC first and switch on the laptop and then install the battery carefully while its switched on.

Take the laptop or send it to a Toshiba Service Center to have the password removed . You may have to pay for the service if laptop is out of warranty.

Many models of Toshiba Satellite laptops have a capacitor called NEC/TOKIN Proadlizer which loses its capacitance with time and hence laptop freezes, shuts down or restarts when AC is plugged in. One needs to replace this cap as shown here:http://gs138.photobucket.com/groups/q251/S1BXDWUERU/

From your description the hard drive has issues, I recommend having it tested for possible replacement.
