Charger light does not come on when plugged in
It's possibly your charger is broken, if you have already replaced your charger then it's possible that the chip that controls the charger is broken, if this isn't the case your motherboard is sadly fried and will need to be replaced, which can be expensive or cheap depending on if you're doing it, or if you're paying someone to do it.Another thing could be the LED is just busted if it turns on and charges.

Got a dell latitude d520
Hi there!
Your laptop is working with just the battery but not with the main power. This issue you have here is usually caused by a motherboard problem but have you tried to remove the battery then try to turn on computer? If it works then you might just need a BIOS update for the computer of not then there's a high chance that the motherboard your using is having a problem using the main source.
Hope this helps!

You can download the audio and device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Click System Tools
Click System Restore
Select a "restore point" one or two days ago, before your friend touched your computer, and "restore" your computer to that date/time.

This is an older system. The battery may have died completely, or your internal connectors to it may have degraded.
