Hiya basically my notebook has
Hello,...Sorry to hear about your friend!
First, I want to ask...Is there an arrow next to the logon password?
You need too... Re-Start the Computer and Hold the Control Key down, while it is Re-booting! This will put you in a Safe Mode.
The First Step,.. I would do while in SAFE MODE is: At The START Button, Type in Device Manager and see what kind of Hardware and Programs are Installed on this computer? If you see any Yellow Symbols,..Right Click on each one and do an Up-Date on all the drivers.
Second...I would then Create a Complete Back-up disk...Do you have a USB Flash Drive (Cruzer)? If not you will need a Blank...CD, probably more than one? Cruzers are relatively in-expensive, under $10.00, they hold alot of information in a very small space.
After you create a Back-Up log,..still in Safe Mode...
Click on the START Button...go to Control Panel, Or ...Type in box at the Start...User Accounts..You can sign in as a GUEST, but..you will have to Enable Guest Accounts and if logged in as a Guest you will not be able to change any previous settings, but you can surf around offline and even use the web if you have an IP Server!
You can try to retreive the original username & password to reset it, or even remove it, or you can turn off user accounts & passwords ? But , I wouldn't try this untill you restart, with a Back-Up Disk, that has all the Original System Information already stored in memory! And upon Re-Starting in Normal Mode, insert the the USB Flash Drive or Back-up disk...go to Computer...Open the Drive with Disk Installed, go to (User Accounts) again, and see if you can find password?
Try these steps, and let me know what you find? There is something on there if you have a passowrd logon! Let me know if you need help?
Kind Regards!
Martie
