ONE IS FOR THE BATTERY LOCK AND ONE IS TO LOCK THE NETBOOK SHUT. JUST SLIDE THE BUTTON AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN IT.) THIS IS THE NETBOOK MEMORY STICK AND IT WILL RESET THE DISPLAY SO THAT THE SCREEN WILL NOW WORK AND YOU WILL BE ABLE USE YOUR NETBOOK AGAIN.

Vertical lines are usually caused by 2 things, either your graphics card is going bad or your screen is going bad. How you check if it is your graphics card is by plugging it into an external monitor (if you have one). If the lines still appear on the external monitor then you know its the graphics card going bad, which isn't probably worth fixing these days if you take into account how must laptop pricing has dropped.

Try installing the WEBcam driver. Download the WEBcam and device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require that matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Have you tried another outlet? Check ALL cables, remove and reseat. Remove battery, plug in push and hold the on/off button. Anything? LED's blink? HDD spins?

Fn + F5 toggles the display output.....but when you run a projector or other device, the backlight shuts off and to turn it back on, the combination is Fn + F6.

Test the motherboard with another processor/ram because the problem may be processor/ram
note: On the system and press the caps lock button, if the caps lock light display that means you are having problem with the screen connection

do you have a track pad because if so you use two fingers and drag them towards eachother

You will need to run the recovery disk that you were advised to make when you first started using the laptop. This will re-install Windows form the System reserved area of your HDD.
