Mitsubishi WD-73827 73" HDTV DLP TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

You have to remove the lower panel on the back of your tv, then remove the light engine. Unhook the wires attached to the DMD board. Remove the DMD board. Remove the heat cink from the DMD board. remove the optical lens but don't touch the lens. There is a video on shopjimmy.com that shows the entire procedure. Takes 2 hours. The optical lens can be cleaned with an eyeglass cloth, same for the DLP chip lens. no wet solutions on lenses. Remove dust from other internal parts with compressed air in a can. Your picture will be clean and clear. Wear latex gloves and make sure you are grounded to prevent static electricity.

Sounds like the back light has gone mate. Unfortunately this usually makes the tv obsolete

Your lamp door switch isnt activated. either the door isnt secure or the wire isnt plugged in. Flashing orangy red LED means just that.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

• Screen Looks 3D

Check your lamp. The popping sound was most likely the arc tube exploding. Make sure you only install a real Philips or Osram lamp. WD73737 Mitsubishi Genuine High Quality Original Projector Lamps now... These folks have good lamps.

That may be a power supply problem. The capacitors are known for failure. check google for "wd73827 capacitors"

U can't just do it on ur own setting like 480i to 1080p when ever u want.No,u only get what ever the tv stations modes they set and send out only.Ur tv have the 1080p mode capability mean ur tv can pickup that 1080p mode.Dosen't mean u can change 480i to 1080p by ur self anytime u want,if the tv station is broadcating tv signal to u only in 480i u get only 480i.

May want to check your bulb. They only last 3or4 years

Hello, first off the set was last made in 2006, so it's 8 years old. Have you checked to see if the lamp is bad? Disregard "Houndog101"'s remarks, they are for an older crt projection tv. If the lamp is ok, it may be the color wheel has failed, a power supply or a bad ballast board, but my first guess would be the lamp part number 915P027010. Let me know what you find on the lamp.....tks

You will need to take this to a repair center. Expect it to be un-repairable.

Based on your description, I'm 90% sure that the (internal) power supply has failed.

Like stated before--May be another bad blub, especially if you used a generic or Neolux one. A phillips bulb WILL work right. Mits sets do NOT like generic bulbs !!

On mitsubishi there can be 3 dots on the front and how/when the blink can be interpreted as codes. Do you have a POWER, a LAMP and a TEMP light on your mitsubishi?

Hello, have you checked the lamp to see if it's broken? Next thing is was it making a whining noise before it went out? If so the color wheel could be bad. the third thing would be the ballast board, it supplies the voltage to the lamp, Let me know....tks.....Terry

You need a new lamp. The red light means the lamp failed to turn on. You can find cheap ones on ebay for about $40. If you go to best buy they will charge an arm and a leg. You can change the lamp yourself and it will take less than 15 mins to do. The only tools youll need are a phillips screw driver and maybe a flat head.

Hello, plug in HDMI's and turn on the device's and unplug the tv and plug it back in and turn the tv on and see if it "finds" them. See if that works, usually does....tks
