My air conditioner doesn't turn on

If your room air conditioner doesn't go on at all: 1) Check the power source first: be sure it's plugged in and turned on. 2) Then check the outlet by unplugging the air conditioner and plugging in a light that works (only for standard-voltage models--do not plug a light into a 220/240-volt receptacle!). 3) If the light doesn't go on, the circuit has probably overloaded--check the electric panel or fuse box and reset the breaker or replace the fuse. 4) If the light works, it's likely that the air conditioner's switch is faulty or the thermostat needs adjustment or repair. 5) Be sure the thermostat is set to "cool" and below room temperature. 6) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for thermostat repair. If adjusting or repairing the thermostat doesn't solve the problem, unplug the unit and call an air conditioning technician.

Had 16 xi Trane heat pump installed 3 years ago. It ran well for the first couple of years. It began to stop heating and would blow cold air only. Have tried both aux heat and reg. heat to run and ne

That's a complicated system that needs a qualified technician to service it. Lots of people can install them and they run fine, for a few years. Your indoor unit, operating on 2 heat elements, will feel like its blowing cold air even though its heating, just not so well. And not like you are accustomed to. Each element (5kw)=22.7amps, on average. So 3 elements operating should trip a breaker. Its probably been operating on 2 heat element plus the heat pump. And now you have trouble with the heat pump. If you can't TRUST the guys working on your equipment, try someone else. A second opinion. Normally a 3 or 4 ton unit will have 15kw heat installed, heatpump or not. 5 ton, 20kw. If yours is a 3-4ton, cooling, the 100amp(or normally two 60 amp) breaker should have been installed upon equipment change out. If yours is blowing cold all the time, something is wrong with your heatpump. The electric heat inside operates only when the heatpump can't keep up(real cold outside), the heatpump is in defrost(then it's actually in cooling mode), or if you have the tstat in aux/em. heat. Try a local trane dealer? Of a technician with 15-20 yrs under their belt. A trane dealer should have trane tech support also. BIG HELP!!!

Air ducts are noisy

Many heating/cooling ducts are metal, so they conduct noise quite readily from the air-handling unit to your rooms. To break the conduction of sound, you can have a heating contractor insert flexible insulation ductwork between the heating/cooling system and the ductwork runs. If you hear a pinging or popping sound coming from the ductwork, this may be caused by thermal expansion or by air blowing past a loose flap of metal. Track along the duct runs, listening for the sound. If you find it, make a small dent in the sheet metal to provide a more rigid surface that?s less likely to move as it heats and cools.

Air handler squeals

Squealing sounds from a forced-air heat pump generally occur when the belt that connects the motor to the fan slips. If the blower is making a grinding noise, shut off the unit and call a heat pump repair technician --the motor's bearings are probably shot. In most cases, the belt is improperly aligned or worn and needs replacement. Follow the instructions in your owner?s manual (if you don?t have one, contact the manufacturer and ask for one). This job involves removing the access panel, loosening a couple of bolts that hold the blower motor at the proper tension, and realigning or adjusting the belt. In many cases, it?s a good idea to remove it and buy a replacement at the hardware store. When reinstalling the belt, be careful not to over-tighten it--this can wear out the motor bearings.

My air conditioner is say

the e8 code has something to do with getting the control board wet. When u try to operate it with the controls on the unit nothing happens. But u can still use the remote to turn it on and adjust the fan and cooling settings. It may have collected some moisture or condensation or if you wer cleaning it it got wet. It should all work again once it dries out.
