Haier HLP21E Top Load Washer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I have a Haier HLP21N that had the same problem. Three blinking lights and refused to spin. It turns out the issue was the lid. The left side plastic hinge had broken the week before. What I didn't realize is that when the lid closes, that back hinge pushes up a rod which tells the machine that the lid is closed and it's safe to spin. So check that hinge and if it is broken you will either need to order a new lid or find some material to stuff under the hinge so that it stays up. I chose the latter option. Just know that going the DIY route means that your machine will continue to spin if you open the lid going forward!

Two possible causes. Try cleaning the fabric softener residue off of the temperature/moisture sensor. The other cause could be the thermostat has failed.

The washer tub bearing is defective.

Yes it sounds like it is. Threads are worn or damaged. Also make sure you have a rubber seal in the end of the hose to stop the leak. Get a new inlet valve fitted.

I tried replacing the motor and this problem persisted to me. I spoke to a service technician who has encouraged me to replace the sequenser but I'm hesitant

slide the tape covered screw driver or plastic spakle knife to pop off the lid, from the two clips in the front. Once that opens pop off the back and under the main washer deliver, you can see the door closed switch.

Hi.It may be that these machines dont actually have a lint filter,they are making alot of them without lint filters now days.There would be a button trap down at the side or the rear i would imagine for cleaning out debris such as coins,hair pins,Etc.

the clutch is slipping. i have rebuilt them in the shop but it is faster and cheaper to buy a new one

Hello Michael; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician. It sounds like your system just needs a good cleaning. Soap film will build up on the draining system components. You need to clean your float and insure it moves freely and makes contact with the float switch which turns on the pump. You may also need to disassemble your pump for cleaning. There are products available for cleaning clothes washers, but these need to be used on a regular bases. I do not think they can clean enough to solve your current problem. Use after you have cleaned.

If it breaks could you use a metal hose clamp?

My washer did not come with the Lint Filter. I contacted Haier Customer Service and sent them all the info they requested such as copy of receipt and etc. That was several weeks ago and Haier still says that they have yet to receive that letter. Or they say that due to high volume of warranty letters they receive, they have yet to process it. Anyways, I got fed up with the customer service or lack of, I started surfing the web for the lint filter and found the above site. The filter is very inexpensive and I got it in several days.

If it drains OK during wash and rinse cycles, then the controller is not turning the pump on for some reason.

First of all this mainly happens when you use cold water washing, the plastic bowl(s) become slightly porous over time & the dirt from clothes adhere to the area between the inner & outer bowls.To clean & remove smell.1. Put washer on hot wash, high level & let it fill with HOT water.2. Stop washer, put in an old towel.3. Add a bucket of hot water (This allows the water level to be above the scum mark inside machine.4. Add washing soda to the bowl (double the amount it says on the packet).5. Start washer & allow to run to the end of the first wash cycle.6. Stop washer & allow to sit for a few hours.7. After the few hours, start washer & allow it to run the rest of the full cycle.you can do the same procedure with Vinegar.you may have to repeat procedure a few times.TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN YOU NEED TO DO THIS PROCEDURE ONCE EVERY 3 MONTHS.The worst case scenario, you will have get a technician to remove the inner bowl & manually clean these areas.

my machine does not wash clean the cloth

Check for something caught in the inner bowl. Check with torch if something caught between inner & outer bowl. Check main bearing, main bearing noise is usally associate with leaking water.

You either have a bad solenoid, timer, loose belt, or water level sensor.

Is the discharge hose higher than the machine? If it is Lower it will never fill. Don't think there is a shut off in the hose to stop the water discharge.

If it was a showroom floor model, the store may have disconnected the power cord from the unit [store safety policy] to display it, then the knuckle that sold it to you didn't care to have it prepped for sale.If it is a brand new and the box wasn't tampered with call HaierAmerica 1-877-337-3639 right away. There is no reason why a NEW unit should be dead. Ask for a free service call to verify the sequencer board works and the power cord is connected properly to it. If it's a floor model call the showroom and demand they fix it. You will have to bring it in if you carried it out but they will fix it in the store usually in a week or less.If the sequencer board [p/n WD-6290-08] is dead and it's most likey due to Haier's poor quality since they only spot check units after they are boxed and shipped from China to America based on complaints, not the other way around like us factory based companies that check units on the factory floor.

When it stops post here what blinking lights are on.Belt should have some movement. If you hear the motor straining but the tub is stuck then it will be worn, hot and flaking.The water pressure switch can stop the unitThe safety switch can also stop the unit for out of balance. I would reload the washer and check if level as well. Then see if you get the blinking lights.

There should be lights blinking, indicating a fault.If this unit is brand new call warranty service.If this unit has run in the past you will need either a new intake valve or new computer sequencer board.
