There is a couple of things that you can try here first off.


The condition of the disk if there is any scratches on it please get it repaired from a video game store or a movie store.

If you have a weak or slow internet connection you may need to borrow a buddies connection.

If it is not installing it on your hard drive then try it out on another machine to see if it is the game or the machine.

if the game is the issue then get it repaired or replaced.

if the system is the issue then the laser lens may need to be cleaned or replaced

you will make a registration code

I had this problem recently. What happened was you closed the game without logging out of Playonline. The long shut down I call it. This corrupts the FFXI data on your HDD. And since FFXI does not appear in the memory you have to format your HDD and redownload. I can guarantee if you put the disc in your xbox with no HDD that it will read or even place it in an xbox with a HDD that has never had FFXI.

You can try this procedure as the game is actually loaded in your hdd ,the disk is unreadable but the game is there on the hdd.
Don't perform format or reformatting option after you get this problem.
If you have done the formatting/reformatting then the game is wiped from the hdd.
1) Remove the HDD from the console and boot the console up with FFXI in the tray and attempt to boot the game. You will get an error about how the game can't start without an Internet connection. Go back to dashboard. Turn off the console.
2) Take the HDD with the FFXI data and the game disc and put them on another console. Attempt to boot up FFXI and you should get to a PlayOnline screen that mentions your data became corrupted due to an improper shutdown. When you attempt to launch PlayOnline Viewer, you will get an error saying the game could not be started and be punted back to dashboard. Turn off the console.

3) Take the HDD with the FFXI data and the game disc and put them on your original console. Boot the game. It should boot up with the same error on the other console, mentioning the possibility of corrupt data due to improper shutdown. However, this time when you launch PlayOnline Viewer, it should work and take you into the game.
If it does not work for the first time.Try the procedure 3-4 times.it will work.It has helped some of the users.

your game is not right downloaded because probably is a piece of the game but i think is not the full game so try to download it somewhere other website and try it again.I hope it helps

I am so sorry that more people are going through this. You MUST LOG OUT OF PLAYONLINE before you can close the game. This long process is needed. Since you did not log out of play online and exit to the dashboard their way your data is now corrupted. FFXI does not appear in the HDD memory and you have to format the HDD and redownload all over again.

Your current connection cannot handle the huge population in white gate, or that bit of data on the disc is damaged or it is corrupted on your new HDD. Any of these three are not an easy fix.

for some reason your xbox is taking a long time to connect to the Square Enix servers. I can only suggest you make sure to have your cache cleared for a smooth load. You may have to redownload the game.

What happens is Hp puts in the software of a whole bunch of games where after time you have to go to their site and purchase their games.
Well there are other FREE sites to goto to find Solitaire, free cell, Spyder solitaire and such.
I also think that they meybe hidden files in Windows, but to find them you have to remove Hp games and then do a search
