Stanley 30-305 HI VIS MEASURING TAPE Questions & Answers
Tape came out of unit.
Yes, but it is a royal pain. The tape has a slot (some are "T" shape and some are tear-drop) in the end, and this fits on to a tension coil inside the unit. What you have to do is re-coil the spring and reattach the tape to it... that is assuming that the tape did not come out because it broke at the slot. There is no way to find out haw many times the spring must be wound, so it is all trial and error.
personally - I suggest waiting untill they go on sale and picking up a new one. I know that's not the answer you want, but it may be a lot easier.
Good luck.
I have a Stanley Power
you can try to pull the tape all the way out and then with a rag lightly oiled let the tape rewind back into the housing if that does not work then you probably need to purchase a new tape. for whatever reasona the spring inside has gotten weak. i use a tape daily and have had this same problem when a tape gets old or abused
How to fix a stanley power-lock 25 ft measuring tape
Take the four corner screws out and the last center (short screw out). Split the shells in two pieces. Seperate the yellow or measureing tape from the black spindle tape. The spindle tape holds or attaches the measurement tap to the spindle. I have only seen a plastic spindle and this tutorial only applies to the plastic one. Take the spindle out and set the half casings on their backs, so you can see the cavity of the shells. The black spindle tape will be preformed to only wrap one way. Go ahead and attach the yello measuring tape to the black spindle tape. Pay close attention which side of the yellow tape is facing up or in our intended direction which is towards the center of the spindle. This way when you pull the tape out it is facing up for the person can see the measure marks. Wrap the tape tightly. If the tabs are broke and there's no way to secure the Yellow to the black, use two strips of Duct Tape and adhere the sections together. Do not use too much tape, since the clearance inside the spindle is tight. Once you wrap the tape inside, put a temporary piece of tape to secure the yellow and keep it from unraveling again. Next take a 1" wood screw and a battery powered drill and insert the screw into the center of the plastic spindle. Slowly tap the screw until it catches, do not drill the screw all the way in, only enough to catch in the plastic. Once the screw is partly into the plastic place the spindle into one of the half shells. The reason for the drill and screw is to return the tension back to the internal spring. Whichever side you placed the screw into you need to be sure to apply a clockwise turn. Keep the hex head of the drill so to not release the tension. At the same time place the spindle in the half shell and lock its square center piece into the shell. Now you can remove the screw from the center, then remove the tape holding the yellow meauring tape down, Still holding the measuring tape so it wont unravel, begin placing the last half shell on. Obviously you need to line everything up so the tape slides freely through its opening. Align the tape slide stop, which rests between the two shell halves. Replace the screws and remember the short one goes in the middle and holds down the belt clip.

How to calibrate stanley 400mm digital level
Select a location that is relatively level and flat.
The edge of a bench is best so that the level can be placed in the same position when the level is rotated during the calibration process.
To calibrate follow below:
Press and hold Calibrate button for about 4 seconds. The display will now show CAL1.
Press the Calibrate button briefly again and the 1 will flash, a beep will be heard and CAL2 will be displayed.
Rotate the level 180° end to end with the display still facing you whilst the level is now upside down. Place the level in the same location.
Press the Calibrate button briefly one last time. The 2 will flash, a beep will be heard and the display will revert back to normal.

How to repair a Stanley powerlock 16 measuring tape ?
From the the attached photo I see that you have completely disassemble the tape. This makes the tape almost impossible to reassemble. The spring has to be back wound fully, the blade attached and retracted back into the case using the back wound spring. This requires special equipment that is not overly complicated, however not possible to make for a once off use. I have designed, built and trained operators to use this type of equipment in a production situation, however in my 35 years of experience I have never been seen anyone back wind a spring by hand. Sorry to say but the tape is ready for the trash.
