Left running for approx ten
If it will do at about the ten minute mark every time it is started up from being dead cold then the thermostat is probably stuck closed which will set off the temperature alarm.
I have a ysb8 yanmar diesel engine, i was trying
to remove the injector ---they corrode in and to remove it you will have to soak it with engine oil and leave for a few days then soak again and maybe after a week it may come loose ,the spray oil will not shift it as it dries out to quick but engine oil will work its way through ,even better if you mix diesel with it ,say 60/40.When refitting the injector use copperslip grease to prevent it corroding up again .Now the delivery valve ,the hole goes inwards
I have a 1989 waverunner 500, Starter engauges
You have a bad starter bendix. It is a one way clutch wit a gear on it that moves on the starter armature to engage the flywheel. It is sliding over and engaging the flywheel the way it is supposed to, except, under load it is slipping. Since it is bad you will need to replace it. If it comes off with the starter it should be easy. If it is inside the engine, you may have to pull the engine to take off the cover and replace it.
Looking at a 2001 XL800,
Notorious for broken power valves, simple compression check should tell you unless both are broken, if there is a 15 to 25 psi difference between the 2 cyl chances are the one with higher comp is bad. Those valves change the port timing and are controled by the ECM. In short, the higher the EX port the lower the comp and vice versa IE the lower the port the higher the....
If a wear ring is going bad or is bad , what are
If its on a Yamaha thats been used in salt water here's what happens. Yamaha uses a stainless liner as a wear ring, the problem being (though very durable and strong) is the outer casing is made of aluminum and the liner is pressed in. The most common prob is that the salt water gets in between the 2 materials and then starts to corrode, since the liner is very thin it gives before the aluminum and starts to swell inward making the gap in the wear ring obsolete. When you run it out of water it will sound like a bearing going out with a loud "whiring" sound but thats only if you can get it to turn over and start because the ones that have sat for a long time wont due to the amount of swelling that has taking place on watercraft that have not been in use.
Fuel mix in jetski is to oil rich need to lean out
Jet ski's do not have an adjustment on the oil pumps unless they are cable operated. Most just run off the end of the crankshaft. If the machine sits for a while and the oil pump seal is leaking. Oil will collect in the crankcase and take a few minutes of running to clear out. You can live with this, replace the pump, or block off the pump and pre-mix. A popular, cheap solution but a pain when it comes to refueling. As for the lack of power you probably have water corrosion in your carburetor nothing a simple cleaning won't cure.
XL1200 '99 which is not producing full power.
hello,
If the machine (engine) is expected to provide full power supply after due service and the technician have visit the engine on inspection and then he make is statement as explain
then you willmhave to consider the period of use i.e duration of usage ,nevertheless a rebuilt machine might not be guaranty but you are advice to make a replacement on the machine, but if the technician can guaranty you on the assignment he want to carry out then you ca ask him to go hard but i still remain on my statement .
thank you and thanks for using fixya.
I have a 2000 yam
Does it make any noises? What is the RPM when this is happening... is it bogging down or screaming high? First place I would check is cylinder compression. Take out the spark plugs and test each cylinder seperately. If you have dropped a cylinder (no compression) or two this could cause loss of power. If that is okay check your intake..is it blocked with weeds or rope or debri? If the RPM goes WAY high, it is a cavitation issue (air leaking into the jet pump assembly) reducing the forward thrust.
I have a 1999 1200XL
Always good to start with a compression test to make sure the cylinders haven't lost compression (power). If all are equal and above 100psi you are good. It may be a cavitation problem... (too much air leakage into the jet pump) a gasket kit may resolve this issue if it is over reving on accelleration.
