Uniden phones have one of two options to keep the handsets from ringing. These can be toggled on and off with the phone system in standby.
Most likely, you have toggled the "Do Not Disturb" mode on your Uniden DECT phone. This mode will ensure that none of the handsets ring on the cordless phone. On models with an answering system, it is automatically turned on when this mode is in use. It will pick up after the preset number of rings. If you hadn't set the number of rings,
Disabling the DND depends on the phone model. On some, to disable the DND mode, press and hold the # key (below 9) for 3+ seconds. When you toggle the mode on, you can tell the system how long to silence the rings (1-9 hours or always on). If you do not press a digit, the always on option will be selected. If you press DND again, the mode starts. Otherwise, it becomes active after 5 seconds.
A few models have the DND button on the base. Again press and hold that button to deactivate the Do Not Disturb feature.
On other Uniden cordless phones, you can only silence one handset at a time. This silent mode is toggled on and off by holding the appropriate key. (This is usually the # or 9 key and will have a second symbol on the key.)
I will assume that you do not have a muted ringer on the phone handsets. If the mute is enabled, just press Volume + when the phone is not in use.
I hope this helps. If you need more specific directions, please add a comment with the phone model number. With that information, I may be able to find the manual as a PDF. One useful source of Uniden DECT phone manuals is
