Check the power cable. It may have been kinked and shorted. Check if any of the internal switch or connectors are touching the body of the mixer. Some moving parts maybe stuck or dislodged due to the horizontal placement.

That's a bargain if it works. Apparently the date is hidden in the last three digits of the serial number, so February 1998 seems likely. The only sure way is to contact Hobart themselves. They have a great service department. I have used many Hobart mixers in my catering career. I found this; As the previous poster mentions, you can't decipher Hobart serial or ML numbers. I have about 30 pieces of Hobart equipment ranging from mixers to slicers to reach-ins to dishwashers and I couldn't make heads or tails of the numbers. Finally, I got hold of someone at Hobart who I emailed all the model numbers, serial numbers and ML numbers to and they emailed me back the month and year of manufacture. Even after I got the information, I still couldn't figure out where in the serial and ML numbers the manufacture dates were buried.

It is a commercial machine, so I would advise against any major repairs. The manual does give all the information. The unit has oil seals in the head and these would have to be replaced. this part is known as planetary and attachment hub, there are gears above this plate and oil from that area could be leaking past the planetary washer. you can see the details of this at the following link to the user manual. it is not clear if there is a seal behind the washer or if the washer itself is grooved with a rubber seal seated on the other side. removal would indicate wear and seal issue. but be aware that gears and other parts may come away if fully removed better to get someone to hold planetary together when removing the central bolt. if the maching has not been overhauled or service in a long time it maybe worth to this done to check all parts and seals for wear which may be cheaper in the long run. https://www.alfaco.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/D300-Manual.pdf I Hope this was helpful.

Free manual mentions 4 oz. lubricate included with it at purchase, if that is the oil you need. Perhaps contact vendors as well as manufacturer.

Try this. Take two flat blade screwdrivers and slip the blades between the planetary and the mixer body (on opposite sides) pry it off. This has worked for me.

It sounds like either a partly stripped gear or a broken driving pin. If it is one of those options though I'm surprised it has not stopped completely.

one of two issues: -either it has started pulling more amps than needed after many years of faithful service, or -you now have something else plugged into the same circuit that is causing the circuit to trip in either case, you will need an electrician to inspect and verify with multimeter (unless you know how to do so yourself). try unplugging any new items you may have purchased since just before the issues started
