From what part of the mixer do we change the oil?

Use food grade grease and you may have to split the motor housing. The grease is for the gearing in the head. At an Appliance parts store That's where to get some. :-)

Oil leaking from hobart d300 mixer

DEFINITELY contact the manufacturer (Hobart) on that one. Sounds like you're having some sort of an internal problem with it (something might be cracked), and in this situation, the best way to go is to contact the manufacturer rather than try to repair it yourself. If you're still under warranty, and you try to open the machine up to fix it yourself, you could wind up VOIDING the warranty, and if you're out of warranty, most repair places won't touch a machine that you've messed with already--too much of a liability.

Just give Hobart a call, and they should be able to help you (if you're in warranty, sometimes even for free!). Their phone number (according to their website, www.hobartcorp.com ) is 1-888-4HOBART (1-888-446-2278)

Good luck! :)

Hobart D300 Mixer, Will not shift from 2nd to 1st

Hobart mixers are NOT designed to change gears while operating. The Hobart planetary gears are like the transmission in your car but, without the clutch. Everytime you change gears while unit is running you are tearing up the brass spacers, gears & seals. Time to call a QUALIFIED service tech to come out & sell you another planetary or rebuild your old one, about $2K, Buy a Varimixer if you want to change gears while unit is running, they use belts. Another planetary premature failur cause, over loading the bowl. Batters & icings- 75% bowl capacity, Dough 65% bowl capacity.

Hobart D300T Mixer Loud Buzzing and No Spinning

You may have a wire not fully seated in your plug, or the worm gear you've just replaced is bound by something ( a gear tooth?) or wrong worm gear. Check to see if all the gears are seated properly. You should be able to turn the agitator by hand. If not, something is jammed in the gears. The other possibility is the windings in the armature are bad.

Dough riding up dough hoook

Chances are you have a 3 PH motor and the motor is running backwards. Take the plug and unscrew the 3 or 4 screws. look at the wiring and change any two of the wires. DO NOT CHANGE THE GROUND WIRE! That one is usually green, but can be noticed by the curved tip as well.
If you do not have a three phase mixer, chances are your dough is too thick or too wet.

Hobart D300 Mixer: Has no torque and no speed in any gear

You have a gear with broken teeth or one sliding out of place because the brass shims are eaten up. Hobarts have what is called a planetary, round head where the grease caps are, and there are no clutches for this planetary. These units are not made to change gears while unit is running (#1 problem of gear failure) (#2 is overloading the bowl) Hobarts need a really stiff GREASE, not oil. If you decide to take the planetary apart, get all the syrup out and replace with a stiff axel grease. It is a very difficult job replacing a gear & ALL the shims. The round head where the grease caps are can easily be removed to do this.

Need to know what type motor is in a hobart D 300 mixer

Look on the I.D. plate. Voltage should be listed. "PH" is for phase. It will either be single (1), or three (3) phase. "AMP" is for ampacity or the amount of power it consumes. Hobart's manual does not list the motor as an entire replacement unit. It only lists parts as if you were to rebuild the motor. Sorry.

Hope this helps some.
