My subwoofer keeps poping and then stops working

larryagross,
Sounds like you blew the speaker! The amp is sensing the voice coil is connecting to the speakers magnet or iron core and is going into a safe mode. It is possible to blow the coil even when the sub has a built in amp.

First make sure that you have the gains properly set ans not all set to their maximums. Second, disconnect signal to the sub then unplug the power for a few minutes. Third, plug the sub into a source of power on a different circuit using a surge protector.

Does the speaker make any popping at the time it powers up? If so you have a amp problem. If there is no sound produced, connect it back the the system using a different signal cable. Does the speaker now pop again when sound is produced. If so the speaker has failed. Contact a Velodyne repair facility.

I have connected the subwoofer to the pre-amp out

One of two things may be going on.

The amp has a fuse mounted on the PC board. The fuse may be blown.

The speaker may be bad. that may have blown the fuse.

You can test the speaker with a "D" battery.
Take the amp section out of the back, disconnect the speaker leads.
Touch the speaker leads to the poles of the battery. it should make a little thump and the cone should move freely.

Contact Velodyne for service.

Cant get sound out of the receiver on the sat input

Have you selected the appropriate input type? (e.g. Optical, HDMI?)

Some receivers (like my Onkyo 606) support HDMI passthrough, but will not decode audio signals from HDMI. Making it a pretty useless port!

Do you get sound when you select FM Tuner on the Pioneer?

Need the Velodyne VX-11 fuse location & type ¿?

Already answered for DPS-12 in 2011 which suggests a fuse where the power enters, However, your manual mentions no fuse, but 'protection circuitry'. If there is a fuse, it will be inside and on a circuit board. All fuses have the rating on the end cap of glass fuses and on the side of ceramic fuses, which as also colour coded. https://velodyneacoustics.com/pdf/vx-11/VX-11Manual.pdf

We have a 2.5 year old Velodyne EQ-Max8 Subwoofer. It has suddenly started making loud pulsing sounds. Are you able to give us any advice as to what may be wrong with it? Thanks

It sounds like you may have ripped the passive (the rubber material around the speaker that stretches when the speaker hits. If the passive is not ripped then it may be picking up static, or it could be blown. You can purchase a noise filter fairly cheap and try that.

Velodyne ct100 loud humming +speaker drown backwards. Can I fix at home

The loud humming could be caused by a cable on the input that is not grounded. It could also be caused by some sort of power supply failure. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/david_29ad5d1dd86564b0

My velodyne subwoofer is making

You did not state what model this is.

If it is a servo controled unit, you may have a problem in the control circuit.

The models that use the servo control stystems should only be serviced by Velodyne or one of the listed service centers.

Velodyne is the only source for parts for these units.
