Jura Capresso Impressa S9 Coffee Maker/Espresso Machine Questions & Answers
What do I need to do when error 8 is displayed on turning on machine?
Jura does not allow access to internal parts for cleaning. Brew group is the dirtiest part as it deals with complicated movements to make coffee.
Error 8 means the brew group is not returning to start position after it completes entire cycle to make coffee.
Jura recommends to remove drip tray. Using a thin cloth, insert the hand all the way under the machine. You will feel access to the bottom of the brew group. Wipe clean the bottom of brew group as best as you can. There will be lot of coffee powder (wet & dry) that is partially responsible to prevent brew group return to start position.
A better method is to open the machine using special key. Clean & lubricate the brew group. every two months. This will prevent Fungus and Bacteria growth. .

Why won't it turn on?
Honestly, I've never even saw a Jura Capresso Impressa S9 Coffee Maker so excuse me that I won't provide you a specific answer, but maybe I can help you with some generic guidelines. I According to your description, after 5 years it's presenting some problem. About German language message, copy it to google search, between quotes and add word translate; see if you get some intelligible return. Other trick to get a tranaslation is to send text to yoursel with gmail and select "translate" Depending on content of that mysterious German message, probably you should look for some repair service. Maybe on your original warranty you have a listin of "authorized repair service" or the shop where you bought it can tell you where to take it.
How to replace thermoblock sensor?
To replace this part you will have to open the jura machine. I found this information out because I had the dreaded error 8 reading on my jura machine which stopped it from making coffee. To disassemble the jura coffee machine you'll need some special tools that I will talk about as I describe how to get to the sensor, make sure you get those tools or something similar.
The problem that you are having is the boiler is not heating properly (heating the water properly), so the taste of espresso will not be good. You need a high heating temperature to get good tasting espresso. This generally happens because the thermo sensor went bad and the electronic board is not sensing the proper heat because the thermo sensor went out.
1. Remove the drip tray
2. Remove the water tank
3. Remove the coffee cover and bean hopper cover (aroma cover)
4. Remove the cover for the pre-ground coffee shut
5. Now you will need to remove the cup warning plate that is stainless steel, it is fastened with 2 security screws. You'll need a Newelectronx t15 torx security screwdriver to take them out.
6. Now remove the top plate, there will be 5 screws fastening it down. Again use the Newelectronx t15 torx screwdriver to take them out. Pull it up to release.
7. On the rear end of the machine, you'll need to remove some weird oval head screws. The only place I could find the tool for this oval head screw was in the Newelectronx Coffee Tool Kit Set. Get the oval tool, which is different from the Newelectronx t15 torx bit and remove the next few screws. There are 2 screws - oval head, on the lower backside. Take off the rear back panel. On the left you'll find the mechanical parts.
8. On the boiler, which is the big metal part that is formed like an upside down tear drop. The thermo sensor is attached to the boiler with a screw - again use the Newelectronx security screwdriver to remove the security screw.
9. The thermo sensor connects to the electronic board. Detach the wire from the electronic board. Now the thermo sensor is off.
10. Replace the thermo sensor with a new jura thermo sensor that has the same wire colors. If the wire color is wrong the contact thermo sensor might not perform as it should.
11. Now put the machine back together. Good luck
Error 8
use distiled water and vinegar to descale
Fill water tank
small float in tank stuck in down position. remove tank and clean with hot water. rinse the give a good shake you will hear float rattle in tank
The Jura just says Heating UP for a very long time
Probably an internal Element has gone open circuit.
Mine did the same thing.
Then it wouldn't heat at all.
I pulled it apart (with photos)
Found the heater element. Found a replacement element after 6 weeks and replaced it in 2 hours.
Back to getting great coffee.. Ahhh
